OT (a bit): USB Floppy/Media Reader - 01/13/04 04:31 AM

If the information about the PSR 3000/1500 being able to act as USB "Master" device is correct, then the Mitsumi "7 in 1 USB Media Drive", which combines a Floppy disc and media reader and connects via USB, might be an interesting option.

That looks good...ideal for keyboards & Digital cameras.
Possibly with demand the price will drop.

Same as what's on the Motif ES. You can connect a Flash Drive (Thumb Drive), External Hard Drive, etc. to the PSR 1500/3000's TO DEVICE USB connector and then load/transfer the data onto the PSR 1500/3000 and also put Data onto the Thumb Drive, etc., from the PSR 1500/3000. Really cool. Although be aware that not all Devices will work with the PSR 1500/3000. External Devices that use 'Hub Drivers' will not work. You have to get a Device that uses NO Hub Drivers whether it be a Flash Drive (Thumb Drive), External Hard Drive, etc.

Best regards,
Mike

"External Devices that use 'Hub Drivers' will not work"

I know very little about the finer points of USB. What's a 'Hub Driver'?

a 'hub driver' is a piece of software that helps recogognize and use the device. Most thumb drives are plug and go, but some need a driver - you'd get a CD with software with the device.

Hub drivers are used mostly to expand a USB port so that it will accept several USB inputs.
I have one on my computer that is 4-in 1 out.
