OT: Went to hear SZ member Tony Mads USA - 07/06/07 01:42 AM

I had the oppotrtunity to hear Tony Mads play a gig last night as a duo. Tony was playing with a well know local multi instrumentalist (sax, flute, guitar, harmonica and vocals). The duo did a nice job. I've heard Tony play briefly in the past but this time around I was able to stay a couple of hours........very entertaining. Tony sounded great, good job with the vocals and his Technics board. As a fringe benefit I got to see his lovely wife again as well as meeting his daughter and 2 grand children. Very enjoyable.

Tony - what keyboard are you playing. Are you doing the backup band/arranger along with your partner?

Sorry I missed this post ... My wife and I left for a short vacation early the morning following the gig ... when I came back, for some reason I did not see this post ...

zuki - I am playing a technics kn6000 ... for the gig I used mainly the on board styles... depending on the style, song, etc. I sometimes muted some of the accomp parts ... I used midi files stored on the kb for a few tunes ...

This is a really good, fun gig to play ... the hours are from 5PM to 9PM on Thursday, 4PM to 8PM on Friday ... the crowd is primarily seniors, looking to dance and have a good time ... if they are not dancing, they are usually looking at the stage watching us perform ... they are very appreciative and applaud after every tune ...
unfortunately I was only filling in for the regular kb player who was on vacation, but I got a lot of good feedback from the audience (and my playing partner, which is ALWAYS good to hear ) ... one of the wait staff was disappointed when I told her I didn't know when I would be back ...

Donny ... only one pic which I will post... my wife had the camera and she was more interested in trying to take pix of our granddaughter and her friend dancing ...

Tony, the MPP is down in price $899 from $1100 when I bought mine in 2005. You may even be able to find a closeout for less money at an internet retail site.
