Dave,

I'm a Huge Norton fan. They catch all the latest viruses, they release virus patches what seems to be daily, they are proactive, they catch adware, email, and many other threats. I just re-upped with their 3-pack and have it running on all my children's computers as well. They are a solid company and their product will not interfere and create problems with your computer like some other products do.

I've been using Norton now for over 12 years now.

Re-Up...it's the right thing to do.

Hello Dave,

I've been running Norton Antivirus products on my computers since 1995. I have NEVER had a virus infection that Norton didn't detect, delete, quarantine or deal with.

It's a no brainer for me, all of my upgrades are to Norton AV products. I don't upgrade every year... usually about every 2. I am currently running Norton Antivirus 2003 and will probably upgrade to 2005 this upcoming summer.

Just my opinion. Hope it helps.

Norton has been doing a fine job for my PCs for many years, even thru the kid's teenage "exploring" years into forbidden websites (Thank you Norton summary reports).

There are many PC mags with 'experts' doing A/B/C... comparison testing. You don't find the testers all agreeing on just one. But, Norton is always one of the preferred choices. For what its worth, a major organization that I work for is also using Norton (the corporate package).

There is one dislike I have.
It won't block the junk music that the kids download!!

UD,

Ebay is an inexpensive way to upgrade Norton. I've been doing it for several years. Saves lots of $$$.

Have fun!

UD, I have been using Trend Micro one of the few recommended/partnered by Microsoft. Seems to do the job.

In addition, I use Microsoft's firewall and automatic updates. You would need to turn off the firewall in the virus protection of your choice. Operating 2 at the same time can cause problems - so they say.

RE: "UD, I have been using Trend Micro one of the few recommended/partnered by Microsoft."

Thats a good point, Frank, and if you value the findings of Consumer Reports Mag any, the Sept2004 issue has their #1 and #2 antivirus software "quick picks" recommendations for "full-featured, easy-to-use" programs are Trend Micro PC-cillan 2004 ($50)followed by Norton AntiVirus 2004 9.0, also at $50.

I use Norton System Works and upgrade every two years and keep the antivirus subscription up all years. I use this so that I also have Norton Utilities which has saved my machine several times and which I use for just general tuneups at least once a week. I've also never been knocked out by any malware of any sort; no virus, no trojan, no worm, none of that sort of thing.

I own Norton SystemWorks 2004 and just had to pay Symatec $24.95 for the annual renewal fee which includes NAV subscriptions for another year. I could have paid more ($39) to upgrade to SystemWorks 2005 but decided to save my $ and stay with System 2004 for another year. - Scott
