Fran - help w/VA76 - 12/13/05 09:46 PM

Fran (or anyone!), I have tried to change my style library to .STH, but the 76 still will not read these. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
zuki

Hi Zuki,
did you ever sort your problem out? Just wondering why you were trying to change them to .STH extension

best wishes

Hi Rikki -
Thanks for your curiosity I actually have my board in for service because both drives were not working correctly. Maybe that was the problem. Not sure why I tried .STH (someone's suggestion). Since my post, I have purchased a large CD library formatted for the VA. The properties show no extension? So, I'll let you know how all turns out.

Hi Zuki,
the reason I asked was, I just upgraded my Yamaha EMC Styleworks to Universal. Santa brought me a Ketron for Xmas.
I had kept all my VA7 styles, and had split them up into 2 folders, the internal (.STL & the zip disk styles(.STH).
When I tried to load & convert one of the .STH files to Ketron, they plain didn't show up.
Leads me to conclude that MAYBE .STH styles will only load from the zip disk, not from a floppy ?? If that is the case, it might be worth keeping a copy of your important styles in both formats.

Fortunately I overcame my problem by loading the .STH styles into the Roland section of EMC & saving them as an .STL.

I think you may find your CD has .STL files.

Glad to see you didn't leave us.

best wishes
Rikki

Rikki -

Interesting point. I'll check it out. I could not get .STL files either to load from floppy or zip to my VA (before I sent it in). In fact, the drives were so bad, they wouldn't even format. Hopefully I'll have better news forthcoming. Here to stay as life is too boring without music.

Claudiu -

Thanks. My VA is getting fixed and hopefully will come back as new, whereas I can keep for a long time.

HI Zuki,
good luck with your VA, I would imagine a drive should be simple enough to fix, it's a real downer when something goes awry.
Even with the new sd1 , I'm still keeping my softsynth OMB/Laptop setup, up to date, means I've always got something to fall back on, if anything should go wrong.

You're definately right, life is boring without music.

best wishes
