Saw that yesterday and this morning on one of the local TV stations. They had pretty extensive coverage of all the contestants lining up in the rain at 3 AM outside Foxboro/Gillette Stadium ( where the NE Pats play. The reporter also had a few singers sing a few bars of the tunes they were going to use in the audition. From what I read Providence newspaper this morning, one candidate from Rhode Island made it to the 2nd round.

One of the attractions at DisneyWorld is the AI competition ... you audition and if picked you and two other contestants compete in one of the shows that day ... the daytime winners, as voted on by the audience, compete at night and the nightly winners get a pass to the front of the line at any AI audition ...

The prelims are way too drawn out and the auditions are just freak shows. The real singers are identified way before the judges hear them. So, why punish us, the judges and the freaks with those horrid auditions. A real talent competition would neither encourage nor accept such lack of talent. All in the name of entertainment... pass the popcorn.
