Simple... Susie fell into a deep well while playing in the woods behind her house. She was then sucked into a time warp and actually spent a few days in the Burmada Triangle, where, as we all know, anyone will age rapidly.

I think someone has exchanged the days with the years...

Maybe she is the 'year' - so she's growing older from season to season. It must be her third winter so she will be twelve next season...

Maybe I should better work on my music than waste my time with thinking and thinking and thinking... ...my brain is steaming...

It is now obvious. We have to count in dog years!

Today is January 1. Yesterday was December 31, Suzie's 10th birthday. On December 30, she was still nine. This year she will turn 11 and next year she will turn 12.
