My trip to Florida .....

My trip to Florida ..... - 01/27/05 10:20 PM

......proved to be VERY benificial!
Looks like I have a (nonredhead) date for Valentines day this year - whodathunkit?
Hmmmmm.......... can a long distance relationship (1200mi) really work? I wonder......

Re: My trip to Florida ..... - 01/27/05 11:30 PM

... better than no relationship at all!!
Good luck. You can go stay with Gary when he moves there.

I AM NOT GETTING IN A HOT-TUB WITH UNCLE DAVE! (Don't even think about it Sutliff.)

Re: My trip to Florida ..... - 01/28/05 08:05 AM

Way ahead of ya, dude.

I scoured the web for the shot of Rodney Dangerfield in the hot-tub with the ladies from the movie, Back To School.

Remove Rodney, insert Uncle Dave, bada-bing.

Didn't find a good picture.

Hey Uncle Dave, I'm heading to Fla... if you give me her phone # & address I'll stop by and give your regards to her. Did you say she's good-looking or "fun to be with"?

Gary... you moving to Fla?

Re: My trip to Florida ..... - 01/28/05 10:30 AM

Glenn,

I'm having serious thoughts along these lines, especially when you consider I have to shoot some outdoor photos for a magazine article today and the temperature this morning was a brisk 2 degrees. Wamred up a bit now, the thermometer reads 12. Just talked with a friend in Marathon Key and it was 72 and sunny--that's what this old man needs, especially this time of year. Now, all I have to do is convince my wife that selling this palatial estate in the People's Republic of Maryland is the right thing to do.

Cheers,

Gary

Seriously ..... anyone have experience with a long distance romance before?
What am I in for?
As far as I can tell ..... the best I can expect is about a date a month and endless phone chatter in between. So far, it's definitely worth the effort. I just hope I can be satisfied with the down times. I know me ... I want, what I want, when I want it. Sounds fair, right?

If that's asking too much, then I guess I ask for too much....!!!

Seriously, regarding the long distance romance, I don't know if I could take the "what is she doing now, who is she with, etc. etc. etc." ... but then, that's me ...
Good luck with it Dave, I hope it works out to whatever your expectations might be ...

UD
I was married to the first for 22 years. SO this qualifies me for Long distance relationships, (Man she was far out there)

Take anything you can talk yourself into, Just don't let them move in with you, Its a lot easier to grab your duds and your keyboard and you move out while they're shopping, than to try and evict 2 acres of plants, 4 cats and half the contents of Walmart.

But then It could be the best thing that ever happened to you in your life, (yes dear I'm almost finished posting to )....Pose

Wow .... without the basic trust that allows for our own space - we'd have no shot. I wouldn't worry about her actions when we're apart if I could count on her when we're together.
She won't have to worry while I'm doing weddings and bars etc......
It's all about the commitment, and if she wanted to ....... I'd move her in here in a heartbeat.

What leads you to believe she would consider moving here? Does she have friends and family in the sunny south? If so, figure on making the move yourself and residing in that part of the world. Just my observations after nearly a half century of nuptual bliss.

Good Luck,

I was gonna say it's not so much the "what is she doing" its the "I want, what I want, when I want it" that's what is going to be frustrating.
Even in the best of circumstances, like being in the same city, a new relationship is tough, ya I don't need to tell you, the distance, after awhile it's gonna be tough.

No chance .... I have 3 girls here that I need to finish raising within reach of their Mom. Maureen's son is fatherless, so she's doing this all on her own.
I can't think about a move for 10 years or so. Not till I get this 11 yr old all settled and on her own.
I'll rack up the frequent flier miles, pad the Verizon retirement funds, and see what happens. Maybe 8 yrs ........ my youngest will be 19 then - who knows.
I KNOW I don't want to live in Florida at the young age of 49 ..... can't even image that....even for a lady. Well.....MAYBE for a lady.

Re: My trip to Florida ..... - 01/31/05 09:26 PM

Sounds like you need to get your hormones under control. How can you know enough about this lady, perfect though she may be, in so little time, to start talking about moving across country and living together? As you well know, there's a lot more to it after the initial excitement of meeting a new love wears off.
Just a word of caution my friend. If it's for real, there's no need to rush.

Re: My trip to Florida ..... - 02/01/05 09:51 AM

INSTANT? We sang together in a band over 20 years ago. I was with her all through her pregnancy with her first child ...... we spent endless hours on the phone, made dinner (AND Whoopie)together ....... she's "best friend" all the way .... it's just the romantic angle that suddenly resurfaced. Plus - I'm an all-er-nothin kind of person when I fall. I fall fast and hard, and I wouldn't want it any other way. These miles are nothing more than a slight inconvenience ....... besides - I LOVE flying !

UD ... obviously that was 'tongue in cheek' ... but of course we have no knowledge of your history with this woman ...

Yep, for me here in Ohio and she was in Ft Lauderdale. My passion for Fla combined with ditto for her made it a sky-high rush, probably where you're at now. The logistics ended mine after 6 months, but I wouldn't have traded it for the world.

So listen to Robert Hastings and don't worry about your destination... you'll get to the station for sure. Just enjoy the trip, you lucky dog!

Re: My trip to Florida ..... - 02/04/05 06:24 PM

Sorry guys, I was at a seminar all day. One word to describe it.....BORING!

Anyway, how's this?

So I took your picture of you and Chloe, cut out just your glasses (and eyes), resized them, tilted them a few degrees counterclockwise, then tried to match the color (Chloe's picture had a lot of blue in it). Position it, magnify it as high as it will go (1600%) so that when you use the Erasure tool, you can get right down to the individual pixel. Cleaned up the rough edges and wah-lah.

Don't worry Scott Yee, we'll get Donny when he least expects it.
