Help needed - PA 600 saving pads - 12/17/14 09:42 PM

I've had a PA 600 for almost a week and feel that I am making great progress in learning how to get the most out of it. Having a blast!

One issue, however, is saving pads to STS's and performances. I'll set up a performance or STS, and then the next time I shut down, then power up again, the pads are changed back to the defaults. I've tried clicking the lock/unlock icon above the pads. I've gone to the global menu and clicked off of the write protect for styles and pads.

What am I missing?

I think I'm figuring it out. The write protect on the styles and pads always defaults back to being "on" after startup, so I guess it always needs to be turned off when saving the pads or STS's.

You are exactly right. I suppose Korg is trying to protect us from accidentally overwriting things. I wish they would make it optional.

I'm still confused on this pad issue. I was under the impression that I could save a different pad set-up with each STS. So, for example, if I save a style with customized STS's, I should be able to save a different set of pads with each individual STS.

But it's not working this way for me. Can each style only have one set of pads saved for all 4 STS's? That's what seems to be happening.

Kevin
Keep going, I have my Pa800 for a while and learning on this keyboard can be a challenge. But after learning I am always amazed at what this keyboard is capable of doing.

After spending 14 years with Technics and 5 with Yamaha my mind refuses to understand Korg’s system. Once I was able to think like the men who created the Pa800; the way they designed the keyboard to be used, my frustration was no longer.

Soooo, what am I saying? Every keyboard becomes user friendly when our thoughts are gone and the creator’s thoughts are used.
(Wow, I think I heard that before)

Thanks, John. I'm enjoying the process of learning something new every time I sit down with the PA-600!
