External Midi and Windows XP pro

Can anyone help me with setting up the external midi settings under Windows XP. I am using a midi cable from the joystick port adaptor linking to my Roland D50. For the life of me i cannot find where in Win XP to add the external midi instrument. Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Selecting Midi Device in WINXP.
START Menu....
SETTINGS....
CONTROL Panel.....
SOUND & Audio.....On this page Select AUDIO.
Here you can set SOUND Playback, SOUND Record & MIDI Playback Devices.
