Intro to Midi Guitar Help

Hi,
My name is Joe and I am starting to some research on Midi Guitar Technology. I am in the process of putting an original band together, and I would like at some point to add Midi Guitar to my playing skills and for band sound purposes. Can somebody help me get my feet wet and lead me or direct me to some good Midi Guitar Information. Thanks
