CLP-820 vs CLP 840 vs CVP 103 - 04/06/00 01:29 PM

I am in the process of selecting a digital piano for a young beginning player. What model would you recommend, what are the differences between the CLP 820, 840 and CVP models?
How would you rate Yamaha comparing to Kurzweil (Mark 3, 5 ) or Roland (HP-236, KR-75).
Where can I find a price listing for the above models?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Ida.

I'm sure you know the www.yamaha.com website, right ? And then go to the various keyboard and piano sections in the top right and click on them. When you go into a section it lists all the models - but you are also offered a comparison chart at the top of that list of models - click on that and you get all the features for the various models in that category side-by-side. You can use www.zzounds.com for prices - they're usually among the lowest. Finally - if you want to expose your youngster to MIDI you might look under "synthesizers" at the Yamaha P-100. It has great piano touch that even a piano teacher (like me) has to love, built in speakers (so it plays in the room like a real piano), all sorts of basic MIDI abilities if you have a computer(those take awhile to learn) and the price is right - about $1,500 - way less than most of the Clavinovas but JUST as good, it just doesn't look like living room furniture...it looks more techy. Frankly you are just paying for the living room furniture look with the Clavinovas and getting a lot less than a P100. Just my opinion. Good luck. They make EXCELLENT stuff for pianists, regardless of which one you choose.

Hi LifeForceExplorer:

I could not find the Yahama P-100 on the Yamaha site. Did you mean P-200 or P-100?
