Midi + Karaoke Text on CVP 96/98

Some of the MIDI songs actually contain the song text which is displayed on the CVP 96/96. This is nice for karaoke purposes. I would like to know how you can add this text to MIDI files yourself.

Secondly, are these files (MIDI + songtext) of a specific type so I can search for them on the net?

Hi there. You can easily add lyrics to your music by using a computer based sequencer package. It is not possible to do it from the instrument alone. Technically, it is a lyric meta-event with a syllable to be sung. See the MIDI Spec for full info and also make sure you get a copy of the Best Practice document for use of MIDI lyrics - it clarifies a few loose ends. Song lyrics are fully implemented in my MIDPC-1 product.
