buy a dx-7 as a midi computer controller? - 11/01/06 01:22 PM

Hey guys,
I'm just getting into electronic music on my computer and am looking into getting a midi controller for softsynths. I know there are midi controllers out there, but the dx-7 has that glamour appeal, and it's nice to be able to use it without a computer. So I'm wondering what you're opinions are on buying it mainly as a midi controller for a computer. I know it can't reach the full volume for the velocity sensitivity, but does this really matter?

Thanks,
Austin

Austin ..things to be concerned about..besides the 100 velocity level...single channel transmit, and no midi transpose..There are many better choices..

Thanks very much for the reply Fran. Since you said there are better choices, I'm guessing you mean still better than the dx-7 even with the grey matter upgrade. When you say better choices, would you suggest a midi controller or a differnt used synth if I'll be doing mostly computer input?
