what is a DX7II Dplus? - 03/26/05 01:08 PM

Hi there
a buddy of mine just bought a "Yamaha DX7II D plus" from a local music store. he says it has a floppy which makes it identical to the FD model. I have never heard of a Dplus, does anyone know anything about this model?
thanks

I have seen one of these on ebay and I am currently watching the item as I'd like to buy it.

It is the same as the DX7IIFD as far as I'm aware. It's not american, I've checked. The fact that it has the word "plus" on it makes me think that it could be a collectors item or some anniversary item. Very interesting. BTW, I'm also on the look out for a DX7IIFD, so please let me know if anyone has one for sale. I am situated in Birmingham, UK

I thought that was the 'E' board. This one has the word "Plus" on the case.

i just received an email for Yamaha Canada in which they told me that there was never a 'plus' model. i suspect that the one listed on ebay we are all talking about is a d with an aftermarket floppy and somebody has added the word 'plus' to it?

So, are these machines any good functionally. Does it act in the same way as the DX7IIFD?

I seem to recall that the "plus" designation on the DX7IIFD simply indicated that it had a "faster" Sony floppy drive installed. Other than that, it's exactly the same.
