Yamaha CS1x versus Alesis QS6 - 01/07/99 07:23 PM

Hi!

I already own an Alesis QS6 with a Euro Dance QCard (expansion card) for producing great commercial dance music. By the way, I find leads and other synthetic sounds good, analogue basses are acceptable, strings and pads are very good and drums too. However, now I would like to try producing techno and trance music. Sure, the QS6 is the best versatile unit for its price range (under 1000 $). However, its lack of real-time modulation sources (knobs for instance) and its few decent analog sounds bother me. So, my question is the following: How does the CS1x compare to the QS6? I wonder too if there's a sound module option for the CS1x.

Thanks in advance!

Have you considered the Yamaha AN1x? I think it is far better than the CS1x or the QS6. That's because this two are sample playback synthetizers, while the AN is a very good, realtime controlable, Analog Physical Modeling synth, designed with the dance musician in mind. The downside is that it is a little more expensive.
