FM Synths - 02/02/99 04:03 AM

Hello,
I am looking to buy an FM Synth.
I like evolving pads a la wavestation, cinematic ethereal music. Not much into Dance or Techno. I was thinking of a TG 77 or is the new Formant Shaping FM module a better way to go?
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, Joseph.

Definitively Formant shaping + FM is better
than tg77.

Yes I agree. I'd check Yamaha's new FSR-1 module which is formant shaping & FM (DX7 patch compatible) Does FM plus vocal emulations and a lot more. I haven't heard this myself yet, but it looks very interesting. But I must admit I still won't get rid of my SY77 which I am very fond of for it's AFM voicings. And they improved the factory set by the time they released the TG77 so it's actually better straight out of the box.
