Problem: Sequences not saving to SD card.

Problem: Sequences not saving to SD card. - 05/13/19 06:38 PM

MY display comes up with a message:

ERROR 85!
An error ha occurred while the SD was saving.
Please try again !

This happens: 1) when I am trying to save a new sequence to SD card.
2) When I copied and changed the key of sequenced songs from willum's disc, initially it saved, but after a couple of days it wasn't in the folder.

I would very much appreciate any feedback and help.

Unlikely but is your SD Card full - megabyte wise?

How do I check if the card is full, only 13 of the folders are utilized and not all of them contain 20 songs. This is a Sun Disk 256 MB.

Thanks

You have to pop it into your computer or laptop and have a look with windows explorer. that will tell you whether all 256 megabytes have been used up.

Thanks Roger, I will do that.

Re: Problem: Sequences not saving to SD card. - 05/16/19 02:59 PM

I have checked the SD card in the windows explorer and it shows
21.5 MG used and 219 MG free space.
I have checked in the Technics Manuel for list of error messages on page 203 and it only lists up to 71 errors. Error 85 is not listed, I wonder if its specific to the SD card.

Thanks

I think you're going to have to buy another SD Card Mike...

I agree with Roger... I think your SD Card may be faulty. The Error 85 I believe indicates 'Card Full' so if there is a fault on the card, it may be seen as full by the KN7000 operating system.

Thank you Roger and Bill, I have ordered a 1 GB SanDisc, I will use it for new songs, this current 256MG I will use as is eventually I will have to save it to another disc which I'am not sure how to do unless I load and save each song one by one.

Thanks again

Technics SD Card Explorer software has the capability of saving whole Cards and then transferring them to a new SD Card.

As far as I'm aware, the program is not available free. It was originally designed for Windows 98SE and Windows XP. I don't know if it is compatible with later versions of Windows - particularly Windows 10 which has lots of compatibility problems with older software.....
I have a small notebook PC attached to my KN7000 with Windows XP installed and keep this solely for using KN SDExplorer.

Are there any instructions "for dummies" available that I can copy, on how to use and navigate around the SD window explorer.
thanks

Thank you Bill for these websites, I had a quick look and there is a lot of information. I was not able to open the SD explorer on my loop top from the files I've copied from my old computer.
I have purchased the program on Nov. 9 2004, but I don't remember what I did with the registration information, how do I contact
Mr. Mellink he should have my information filed with my email when I purchased the program.

thanks again

Hi Mike,
I don't want to publish Fred's email address on an 'open' forum....
I've sent you a private email.

Re: Problem: Sequences not saving to SD card. - 05/28/19 04:24 PM

Hi Mike,

I run the official website for KN-SDExplorer, and it has the most up to date information for the programme.

Your original purchase and license is still valid. Please complete the form on the following page:

https://software.technicskn7000.com/contact-us/

An email will be sent to Fred and me from that form. Fred will send your license details to you (usually within 48 hours). Fred deals with licenses and I deal with support.

In the meantime, you can download the programme on the home page here - https://software.technicskn7000.com/

The software will work in demo mode (ie one file at a time but it still works fully), until you receive and input your license details.

Regarding your original problem:

In my experience, once an SD card is corrupted it is extremely difficult to retrieve. For that reason, I always back up my SD Cards regularly to my PC using KN-SDExplorer to do so. Restoring those backups is very easy and they aren't large files usually, so keep many backups.

Corruption resulting in the sort of errors you have encountered can be caused by the degradation of the contacts on the card, by some dust on the contacts or by removing the card too early when the red light is still on, for example. Cleaning the contacts might allow you to continue using the card but it will probably need to be reformatted and started afresh (keeping backups all the time). I use a pencil rubber to clean the contacts now and then, one of those slightly abrasive ones.

I hope that helps. If you need assistance with the programme please post in the forum on the same website.

Best wishes,
Mike

PS I haven't tested KN-SDExplorer with Windows 10 but it works on all previous versions so I don't expect issues. Unfortunately, I can't test it on Windows 10 (if necessary) until the weekend.

Re: Problem: Sequences not saving to SD card. - 05/29/19 07:41 AM

Thank you Mike for this encouraging information.
This particular SD card is kind of a permanent resident in my keyboard I did not removed it often since it has my favorite styles and sequences,
I will try to clean the contacts the way you recommend, my current laptop has Windows 7.

Thanks again

Use KN-SDExplorer to back up your card and restore it to a new one. That will get you back working.

In the meantime, copy the entire contents of the card onto your computer, as an additional backup.

Re: Problem: Sequences not saving to SD card. - 05/30/19 07:20 PM

I have received SDExplorer1_10.zip files in Vimeo from Fred, downloaded them to my loop top and RMC on SDExplorer.msi and the dialog box that comes up "The installer will guide you..." is not the same as on the Installing KN-SDE manual on the web, what I get is "Select whether you want to repair or remove KN7000 SDExplorer." i select repair, and select Finish, and then nothing else is happening. I don't get the conformation of installation.

I have Windows 7. Another question how do i unzip the files.

Thanks Mike

Re: Problem: Sequences not saving to SD card. - 05/31/19 10:14 AM

Mike,

The message you received means that the programme was already installed. All you have to do is follow the instructions in Fred's email about licensing the programme.

Please note that the programme does not run unless there's an SD Card in your computer.

For usage, follow the instructions in the manual here:

https://software.technicskn7000.com/manual/starting-program/

If you have issues with starting the programme by the instructions on that page, refer to the page for Windows 8.1 as those instructions should also apply.

Best wishes,
Mike

Thank you Mike,I will give it another try, I was able to copy my
256MG SD Card content to my PC and then copied all to a new 1GB SD Card and than played it in the keyboard to make sure it's OK.
I am sure that i will have a lot more questions.

I am not sure what you mean about the instructions licencing the programme. He did resend my password for the licence and i filled out the rec'd fields.

All the best Mike

Re: Problem: Sequences not saving to SD card. - 06/05/19 07:32 AM

Would it be advisable to delete all the SDExplorer files from my new HP windows 7 computer including the ones I copied from old Compac windows 98, and then download the new files that Fred send me, since I can not get any SDexplorer dialog boxes.

Thank you
