Differance between kn6500 and kn7000? - 06/02/17 06:51 PM

Are the sounds the same? more sounds on the KN7000? are the differences little in comparison? are there many upgrades to the 7000?

I would say that there are probably about the same number of 'sounds'; slightly less rhythms....but....
An enormous difference in capability. No need for floppy disks any more although there is a slot in the KN7000, as the amazing SD Card system means almost instantaneous delivery of saved set-ups ready to play.

KN7000 have USB Port to use software (Song Manager & Audio Recorder) on PC.
I think it's very important for me.

Each new keyboard Technics made brought new features and general features. The changes were enough to make you want the next model. We were six Technics uses in Boynton Beach Fl. --- we met many times to discuss how pleased we were with our Technics keyboards. The result was that we decided to buy the new model without having any advanced information. The new keyboards never disappointed us. We bought by the reputation they had made. They did more than making a great keyboard; they put the customer right up front.

I had a problem with my Kn6000. I brought to the Technics repair four times; the problem was not solved. I was told to leave it at the repair station and they would send me a new keyboard. When I opened the carton, I was surprised – they did not send me a Kn6000, it was a Kn6500 – and NO CHARGE for shipping.

I guess for the consumer thats a good thing but that was one of the reasons for the downfall of Technics they lost on that deal and many others.

There still a demand for the Kn7000 after many years. The demand for a Kn6550 is far less, and much cheaper. My opinion: the Kn7000 is a far better tool than the Kn6500. In a few weeks I will have a Kn7000 – I will bring it to my friend who has a Kn6500. I will have a better answer at that time.

Did Technics decide to drop the keyboard or did they go down? There are many people who have asked that question, none have come up with a conclusive answer. Technics was leading the arranger keyboard industry, why would they go down?

The main reason that Technics closed shop was because there was no profit in the keyboard division.

John,
as far as I have read at several websites and fora, it was Matsushita (who was the owner of Technics Electronic Musical Instruments) who decided to close down that part of the factory.
Due to the less sales in the global market and probably by see further continue of this trend, they desided to close the division down.
Matsushuta is a big company that also is tghe owner of Panasonic brand.

Several topics about it during the years, also this one:

My understanding was that there total promotion of Technics keyboards came from stupidity. The only way music dealers could carry the Technics keyboards was to carry the full line of Technics pianos and organs. They also limited their sales by not allowing professional music gear stores to carry their keyboards. Don't know if it was because of competition of Korg, Yamaha and other keyboards carried by these stores. It was only piano and organ stores where one could buy Technic keyboards. Keyboards like Yamaha can or could be bought in many places including camera stores.
