Technics HEX Information - 06/13/15 09:08 PM

Hi Everyone,

As many of you know, the HEX information of SOME Technics files can be edited in order to make the files work with SOME other models.

I've developed a PC program that makes these changes without having to use a hex editor. However, there are many filetypes and many Technics models, far too many combinations to test.

Therefore, if you have successfully edited the hex info of any Technics files from one model to another I would be grateful if you can let me know your findings. I'll then double-check them and incorporate into the program.

Any input surrounding this topic is much appreciated.

I'm especially interested to find out whether some of the KN keyboard Composer patterns can be made available to some organ owners in this way (GN series organs for example).

Many thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Some time ago, I was asked to convert some KN2600 files to KN7000 format.
The codes I used in the first 4 Bytes were as follows :

Original KN2600 : $4C $4B $47 $44 - KN7000 : $4A $20 $4B $ 44

As I'm sure you know, these Bytes need to be changed in every component of the 'TFLDxxx' song folder.....(.SEQ .CMP .LSW .PMT etc.)
Quite a big job! However, I found a Hex editor which made the process a bit easier....

I expect that the KN2400 codes will be the same as the KN2600 but I have no way of verifying this.....

Hi Bill,

That's exactly the kid of info we're looking for. I'll test it out.

Many thanks,
Mike
