PR 804 - 09/04/14 04:44 PM

G'day to the experts,
Next week I have to play at a friends place on a Technics PR804 digital piano. I think the KN7 Sd card and floppies are compatible.
Can one of you knowlegable people confirm that for me.
Ta

Take your KN7000 with you just in case Ray as total compatibility is a bit vague it seems to me...

Hello Ray,
I think the answer to your question is NO

We have a KN7000 and a Technics PR900 and the discs won't intermix
Screen says for a different model

Hi Ray,

The PR804 can't load Custom Styles but it should load the other KN7000 files. This implies that it should load Composer files.

I've gathered as much info about Technics instrument compatibility as I can on the following page:

http://technicskn7000.com/technics-instruments/

I've also made some little icons for each filetype and expanded on what each type of file contains.

Obviously I can't verify all of these different instrument exchanges personally, so I'm grateful to hear from anyone who has additional info.

I guess Roger's advice is the best though... take the KN7000 with you haha.

Is it me or do KN7000s get heavier every year? laugh

I hope you have fun trying out the PR804 I'm looking forward to trying one someday!

Best wishes,
Mike

Definitely heavier every year Mike and I have theory about that. As you add more set-ups to the SD Card so the keyboard gets heavier...what d'you think eh...?

Oh yes Roger!

It's a good job they didn't build them to take 2Gb cards!

Re: PR 804 - 09/06/14 09:14 PM

Hi Dave, Roger, and Mike,
I have a PR 903 which is not compatible, and I know that the PR604 is compatible, with some slight variations,so the 804 should be the same, (I hope) but thanks for reminding me that they only take floppies and no SD card.
Roger, regarding the weight issue, my SD card is nearly full so when I transport the KN7 I take the card out and put it in my pocket. VOILA!!! amazing how much lighter it is. I commend the practice to you. (The same applies with the floppy but not so great a difference!!!!
My friend has the PR804, a Roland AT 900 and an Allen theatre organ (3 manual, 10 speakers $150,000 worth)but access is poor to take my 7000 so I may revert to the Roland if I have a problem

PS where is Audrey these days?

Re: PR 804 - 09/07/14 02:06 AM

I think the compatibility is related to the style file specificlly but not necessarily to all your other settings for a particular song. Great idea to remove the SD Card and save on weight and I've now taken the speakers out cos they weigh a fair bit too...stripped down version, eh...

Gee guys--just think if they made the KN7000 with weighted keys!!! Add this to an KN8000 with 76 keys, if there had been one made.

Re: PR 804 - 09/14/14 01:40 AM

G'day all,
Well!! The Kn7 is compatible with the PR804, JUST.
The one problem is that if there are no exact sounds to match, it will find an alternative which does not always come out the same.
E.G. I had a fast rotor organ no. 2 on the left hand and it came up with acc. drawbars, which was much too deep in register, and Ball Game organ on rt. 1 came out as acc. drawbars again, which did not have the desired effect/sound I required.
Everything else was OK(apart from the fact that I forgot to take one of my music books for a number I was going to play), but I had a few backstops which got me out of trouble.
Old age is a bugger!!!!
