SD explorer - 11/06/10 09:46 AM

Is there a chance to get copy of SD explorer or the SD tool software whichever is easier to use? Any comment or help will be appreciated. Jan.

Hello Zachr

Try the following email address. Fred will be able to tell you whether the SD Explorer Tool is still available.

f.mellink@chello.nl

Good luck!

Audrey

SD Explorer is undoubtedly the easiest to use but there are alternatives which are free.

Not sure about the SD Manager at Mister Music but it sounds similar to the SD Card Tool programs which I helped Thomas Konig develop, one version for Technics files and one for midis (SD Explorer can't handle midis). These were free at the time, but never fully finalised, nevertheless worked well enough last time I used them (a few years ago now!).

Alternatively the Keysoft SD Techmanager 7000 program which was pretty expensive at the time is now effectively free since the company was wound up, and Roland Schmidt provided a free keygenerator when he closed down so you can register and use the full complement of facilities. This has the advantage over SD Explorer in that it can handle midis on the card and edit favourites, user playlists and song medleys on the pc. http://www.keysoftservice.ch/keygenerator.htm

Using any of these programs without first backing up your card if important work is involved is naturally particularly foolish

The Techmanager 7000 sounds very interesting, any idea where I can download the program.

Alec, Bastian

Thanks for the info on this program and the links.

As I am using a Windows 7 x64 bit system I had to download a couple of free files from Microsoft to get the Keygenerator and program 'help files' to work, but that was a very simple process and the program now runs fine.

I must admit I nearly choked on my coffee when I found out the initial price of this software. I appreciate its probably very useful but I can't help thinking this may have been a marketing 'error' at the time.

Thanks again

I run short on knowledge when it comes to working with loading programs and the different information they are asking for.

I would appreciate if someone would write the steps (step-by-step) needed to load the Keysoft SD Techmanager 7000 program into my computer.

Re: SD explorer - 11/09/10 04:00 AM

you need both the installation exe and the keygenerator exe.

run the installation exe, you should get some default path like C:\Program Files\SD-Techmanager7000. Click on the icon to finalise installation.

If you get some messages about files being older than those on your pc click on "Nein" to keep the newer files. (this program is after all some years old!)

run the keygenerator exe, enter
Password : soerenberg
Liberation Key Length : 16
Software code : read from the program installation message, Help menu, info, under version no, and enter.
click Generate.

If the English menus do not appear by default after selecting the Union Jack,
Menu, Programm, Sprachwahl, select English.

Hi Alec

I have Win 7 x64, the program appears to run fine except if I use the 'Backup' function. I get a fault window saying Run time error 339 - Component COMCTL32.OCX or one of its dependences not correctly registered.

I understand from a previous problem you helped me with you are using Win 7 x64, just wondering if you had this error ?

Re: SD explorer - 11/09/10 09:48 AM

don't know.

But 3 things to try.

1 download the OCX from a trusted source or COPY it from Windows\System32 folder (if there) to the Program files\SD-Techmanager7000 folder - see if this simple method works, many times it does. If not

2 download the OCX from a trusted source or COPY the OCX from Windows\System32 folder (if there) to Windows\SysWOW64 folder where it should be. To register, open a command line and type

regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\comctl32.ocx

and enter. Or if this does not work

3 uninstall the program and reinstall, this time changing the destination path using the tree from C:\Program Files\ to C:\Program Files (x86)\SD-Techmanager7000 where all 32 bit programs should be installed if their system files get written to Windows\System32.

These just best guesses (3 edits for 3 guesses!!), no guarantees.

Re: SD explorer - 11/09/10 11:15 AM

Alec, thank you for this heads up. For someone like me that uses matching play lists and KN7000 Favorite songs, the KN7000 Tech Manager saves a lot of time. It is much easier to manage changes to the Favorite Songs list with this software.

Alec

Thankyou - Option 1 worked a treat, now everything is working fine.
