SD Card reading empty in keyboardhttp://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/icons/icon8.gif - 11/03/10 11:43 AM

Hello! I haven't been on for ages but of course have a problem so I hope someone can help.
I coied my SD Card to PC via a card reader. Now Keyboard shows card empty although the files are still there. If I upload any of my previously saved files via either SD or floppy they show empty. Someone suggested that whatever the keyboard needs to identify a Technics file, has been lost so it shows it as empty. How do I get the keyboard to read SD card? I CAN upload individual files from PC to Keyboard memory via "Song Manager" and usb from Pc to Keyboard but all files are only numbers and cannot be identified till loaded (a LONG process) Can you help?
Thanks,
Jaro

Hi Jaro,
I had the same problem. I wanted to transfer registrations from one SD card which was 260 MB to a 1GB card via my computer but when I tried loading onto the KN7000 it told me the card was empty. I checked back on the computer but it showed full, I tried again to load on the keyboard with the same result.
In the end I am slowly tranfering each registration one at a time on the 1GB card via the keyboard its taking me days to do it, but at least I can rectify any mistakes that were on the original card. I don't know the answer to the problem. If you are able to resolve it, please let me know.

It has been mentioned several times on this forum - the easiest way to carry out a complete transfer of Technics Files from one card to another, using your PC, is to just copy the 'PRIVATE' folder from the source card, to a Temporary location on your PC (eg Desktop) and then copy the 'PRIVATE' folder in the Temporary location to the Target SD Card.
Note : The Target SD Card should be blank and you do not need to format the target card.

Alternatively, if you have access to two SD card readers and two USB ports, you can just do a direct copy of the 'PRIVATE' folder from the source card to the target card, thus missing out the intermediate step.

Jaro, I had similar problem. It was wrong file system in formatting process. Go to My computer, left click on the SD card in question, then right click on Format and change the File system to FAT only. Format the card and it will work. Try it and let me know. Jan.

Thanks very much for everone's input,
in particular from Bill Norrie! He told me to copy from the SD card to a temp file on my computer, the file marked "private" only. Then transfer this onto an empty SD card which does not need to be formatted, (I formatted mine, FAT only, as Jan suggested).
HEY PRESTO I have ALL my original files reading from the KN7000 SD Card reader!!
So I didn't need to use the Song Manager programme atall!
Anyway thanks again for your help, and I hope all this information might help others too.

It certainly helped me as I didn't know about the 'FAT' format at all, so thanks for that at least.
