Hello cpoberg,

One of our keyboard club members bought a 'stand alone' Floppy Disk Drive from PC World for his Tyros 1 and it works very well. I suggest you approach your nearest computer shop and make enquiries, even if they cannot sell you one, they may be able to tell you where you can get it.

Good luck!

I needed a replacement for my KN5000 several years ago. I couldn't find one, and finally found a company that was trying to clone other mfgr's drives. I sent it to them, and they reported back that after hours of testing, it was to propriatary, and gave up.

I hate to discourage you, but it is very specialized, and a substitute looks impossable.

Hi cpoberg:
You do not say what is wrong with the drive!
The fault could be as simple as a worn drive belt.

Try using a floppy disk drive cleaner disk with the fluid on it. That always solved my problems and I would then use it about every few months even when it was working ok. I still have a kn800 used a lot and the disk drive still works fine.
