HD -AE 5000 Hard-Drive Problems HELP !! - 06/03/08 09:42 AM

My hardrive on KN-5000 has signaled me to get Technical Help. It Completely Locks up my keyboard so that I have no sound. I have the Figitsu model number. and Part number plus I have the disc to convert to Version 2. Upon entering the model number under Figitsu many and I mean many businesses have listed in there services related to the obsolete figitsu drives. But further investigating these places that have the exactly same model number of the HD-AE5000 hardrive I find the hardrives they are referring to are one's that have come out of old laptops or computers. And also they are not interested in repairs but securing lost data or providing some one with computer a formatted obsolete one. SURELY in this whole wide world there is an expert place that I could send my hardrive to and letting them examine it and see if it can be repaired. DOES ANYONE have an address or place that would have to be super-specialized KNOW OF A PLACE I could contact. As it stands now I have a keyboard I don't even want to use as I have become so use to one with a hardrive in it. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP. It seems a "shame" to have one just sitting there I can't use plus the fact that it might be an only minor problem in a perfectly good HD-AE 5000 hard-drive. Sincerely Bill Bynum P.S. Hi.

Sorry to read about your problems.
A "ordinary" replacement by use of 2.5" could be done if you could manage
to format trhe drive as it should be to operate in the KN.
But that's the big issue, you probably don't find the sofware needed.

Maybe a e-mail to webmaster at this site http://keysoftservice.ch/index-e.htm
can direct you to the developer of the KN Harddrives so you can get it fixed?

Another shot is to remove the harddrive so your KN can be played without this
option, but honestly, I'm not sure if you have to "downgrade" the software in
the KN to make it work, but my guess is that should work without the HD inside.
I'm sure here are some experts reading this who can tell.

Hello William,

Are you trying to use an ordinary data hard drive with the KN5000? If so I don't think you can for two reasons:-

1) I don't think the KN5000 is built to take a hard drive. If I remember correctly, this facility wasn't introduced by Technics until model KN6000 or KN6500.

2) If it is possible to use a hard drive with the KN5000, I would think you would first have to format it in the keyboard itself, in order for it to read the Technics format, (this is the way we format the SD Cards before use). If it is formatted in the PC, the keyboard cannot read it.

This is just a thought and I could be wrong, so I would suggest you address your problem to "Technicsplayer" He is an expert and has helped me on numerous occasions,particularly when I first started using Technics keyboards.

both KN3000 and KN5000 are HD capable and has the HD as optional choice.

Bill, the KN5000 with the HD-AE5000 that we talked about a few months ago is still available. I decided not to buy it.

Bob If the Hardrive for Kn-5000 is still available how do I go about buying it and at what price? I'm new about getting around on synth-zone. Of course with all my delima's I.ve had I want to make sure it is in top-notch working condition. Thank you for your attention and with all that I've gone through I guess it would be better to go ahead and buy another.Sincerely Bill Bynum

Bill, as we discussed before, she will not sell the hard drive separately, but will sell the KN5000 with hard drive installed. It is in perfect condition. If you want more info email me. My address is in my profile.
