Great find Bernie This is one incredible video !! I just spent and hour watching it and this guy, Leon Kuypers, (Dutch I think) has some amazing technique.
He plays on Hammond XE-200, XB-1, XB-2 and B3. Great early performances are 'Honeysuckle Rose', 'Have you met Miss Jones' and later, 'There will never be another you' and his footwork on the B3 pedalboard on his last number 'Secret Love' defies description !!!
You do need a fast internet connection to watch it, but it is a very entertaining hour.....

It makes me miss my organ days between 1962 and 1986 with the Hammond B-3.Alas,I was never near that good, and don't miss loading it and a 122 Leslie to gigs. I wonder where Alex Green is ? He would love this.

Leon is indead a dutch guy. He plays the KN7000 to, also with an amazing technique. The shop I bought my KN had as a bonus 4 evenings learning the possibilities of the KN. The guy who gave the demonstration was Leon Kuypers.

Dear Bernie!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for a fabulous link. I have spent a most enjoyable and envious hour listening to that great organ concert!

I would give anything to be able to play even half as well as that great guy does! But I guess I have to be happy with my limited talent, and, as I am always told, that is more than many others have.

Thanks a million, Bernie.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!

When I could play like Leon, I certainly would not work at the company I now work for and do the job I do now, although it ain't bad.

What a technique and vituosity this guy from our country has. Do you know Carlo de Wijs. Another great Dutch Hammond player:

I visited a few of his concert and has all his CD's.. Really also superb.

Re: New Hammond XB Concert - 05/24/06 08:00 PM

Thanks Bernie!
This is an amazing video!
Watched it once or twice. Then loaded my B4 and played along. Tried to anyway...
Had to use my Motif ES 8 for lower manual.. ouch... LOL Left hand will hurt tomorrow. Some keys on the ES8 feel funny now.

Thanks again! I haven't had so much fun in years!

Re: New Hammond XB Concert - 05/25/06 01:55 AM

Hi Ed
Thanks for reminding me I had this fine concert. I watched it again, and I was just as amazed as the first time.

You must be a fine player, indeed, to keep up with this man.

Re: New Hammond XB Concert - 05/25/06 06:34 AM

Oh no,
I was just trying to get some of the very very basic things he was doing. Since I know most of the pieces he was playing (at least know how to play them on my guitar) it was more or less a matter of using my ears but honestly there is absolutely no way to keep up with this guy. Some of the leads may be but I could not get mine to sound anywhere as intricate. It was just an attempt. Nothing more.

His version of Tico-Tico was just incredible. Great technique, great sense of humor. Brilliant!
