Secondhand KN7000 Prices?

Secondhand KN7000 Prices? - 01/13/05 11:52 PM

With my Kn7000 in for repair and the more complex spares being very much a problem to get hold off, at least here in the UK, i've spent the last couple of days enquiring about prices of second hand KN7000's, i've been amazed at just how expensive they are being advertised.

One shop is advertising a KN7000 for £1,500
Private sellers just a little lower.

Just out of cuiosity (with the spares problem) would anyone on the forum pay this for a KN7000?

Bear in mind a Tyros you can get now for £1,600 inc vat, delivery, and parts and labour warranty for three years!

Kind regards

Peter

Gosh - who knows what you might do when you're desperate - i.e. your keyboard breaks down and you've got a gig to go to in a couple of days time. say...
Hope you aren't in that situation, Pete...

Hi Roger,

No not I! Always have a spare instrument to fall back on, mind you if that failed!

This is my opinion, and I don't knock anyone trying to get as much as they can for anything, I do the same. But looking at things from a buyers point of view, is a keyboard that cost new 2 years ago £1,425 (that's what I paid for mine) really worth £1,300 today with no warranty and also bearing in mind that the spares for it may not be available much longer, and that some spares may not be available now!.

Surely a more realistic figure for a secondhand KN7000 would be somewhere between £800-£900? Just my thoughts

All the best

PUblished market value on the KN6000 is $1866.00 USD. the KN7000 used will be priced considerable above that.

Hi David,

Good luck with selling your KN7000. Can i ask you a question David, "do you think the spares issue may deter people from buying the KN7000"

Hi Peter,I think quite possibly the spares issue will cause some people to have second thoughts about buying Technics, their equipment does seem extremely reliable though.Possibly if you're gigging a lot(maybe without a flight case)maybe problems would occur.
Incidentally,my asking price would seem on the high side;£1,000 is more realistic!
Regards,David.

Hi Peter.
Someone will know the answer to this question about spares. I think, but cannot say for certain.that, the manafacturer should by law, provide spares for 7 years.
after production is stopped.I feel sure I have read this.
I am speaking of English law.But the law I think would apply to most countries.
Can anyone say if I am correct.Good luck to anyone with problems,It is I know, sickening when our lovely KNs go wrong.I have the KN2600.ButI gig with the KN2000,I have had it for 12 years. It cost £2000.00.I always use a flight case.and treat it as my baby.I still love it!!.It as never failed me in the 12 years I have had it.I have been at the same Hotel for 12 years.the room is quite big, I use an Alesis Microverb,I Plug the Alesis into the KN2000.a Mic into the Alesis and I get a very good sound.
I read on S/Zone.this is bad practice.I believe the person who posted it.I know him to be correct, and a gentleman. Now wait for my next post,Can you please tell me were to get spares for the KN2000.I may have tempted fate.Happy playing Peter.
Sincerely.
Joe.

Re: Secondhand KN7000 Prices? - 01/15/05 11:52 PM

Hi Joe,

I also read in a flyer from Whitlet bay organs in the UK that spares should legally be made available for 7 years, the engineer who is repairing my KN7000 has already warned me though that some spares will already be hard to get in the UK!

Just noticed a KN7000 for sale on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20080&item=3775018383&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW latest bid £890 but it does contain a sought after midi pedal board.

David, I expect you've already mentioned it but what are the expansion boards you have fitted? The most sought after seems to be number 4 with the saprano voice

Kind regards to all

Peter

Thanks for reminding us of the Panasonic parts and manual site. Somehow I missed this very important link - it is now noted and book marked.

I don't know if anyone has spotted this yet but there is another KN7000 on ebay £750
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=68245&item=3777067974&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

With regard my KN7000 that's been in for repair now for over a week, spares are certainly proving the problem as I was warned by the engineer from the start, he's informed me that even a simple power supply may have to come from Europe or Japan.

I think it would be very wise for anyone thinking of purchasing a second hand Technics instrument to consider the likelyhood that when it goes wrong it may take quite a long time to get it repaired and that in the not too long future, certain parts will simply not be available at all.

Kind regards to all

Re: Secondhand KN7000 Prices? - 01/20/05 03:48 AM

you might get hold of Tyros for £1600 but you will need the speaker pack to add anto this figure. I recently sold my Tyros which was of course now secondhand for £1650 including the speakers and Tyros stand.
The average price for a kn 7000 is around £1000. hope this helps.

Hi Peter & everyone

I would advise great caution with this ebay offer. The seller only registered on the day of the sale - obviously no feedback available and is keeping bidders identity hidden. This is a similar pattern to scams that have happened in the past.
