Speakers - 11/28/04 03:31 PM

Hi all,I,m considering the purchase of the KAS-200SM1 keyboard system which comprises two satellite speakers and a sub-woofer unit to go with my KN7000,as reviewed in December 2003 techplus mag.I was wondering if anyone had first hand knowlege of this system. The original rrp was £699 but now has been reduced to an enticing £499.
Apparently it sounds superb and really enhances the KN's sound.Anyway, would be interesting to hear anyone's opinion.
Cheers,David.

Not familiar with the one you mentioned.

I would take a look in th e General Arranger section of Synthzone, and type in Logitech z2200 and you'll see a lot of people are using theses for at home and playing out.

This particular model is a 2.1, 200 watts RMS and sells for around $100 US. Don't know about prices in England.

Hi there - the Logitech Z2200 retails at List Price £149.99 in the UK.

I have just purchased these from Pixmania, France - including tax and delivery - Total to pay £81.70 118,29 Euros. Prices seem to vary on a daily basis.

I use them purely for home use and I am very pleased with them. So far I have only had the volume up to 40% which is ample in a home environment.

I have not heard the KAS-200SM1 speakers but comparing the price against the Logitech Z2200 I would certainly expect the the KAS to be far superior - BUT who knows! Joan

Re: Speakers - 11/29/04 02:43 AM

I use the Z2200 system also. What a difference in the low end. I use them at home and gigs at a big hall, and have plenty of power. I put the satellites on modified music stands and raise them about 4 ft. to get more throw. They are the most bang for the buck out there.

I also use the Z2200 with my 2600 and 7000. Do not think they can be beat for the money. I paid $108. but they have been as low as $80. in the states. Give E-Buy a try.

Re Logitech Z2200 speakers. What a difference in price from the UK and the States.

What I omitted to say in my first post was that I have not got them hooked up to the KN7! - I have them attached to my PC - listen to CDs with them.

Joan - KN7 - UK.

This system compliments the KN7000 and was developed and produced especially for it all be it a little expensive.
I use the same MJ Ref 100 sub woofer minus the satellites because I have my own actives.
This kit is ideal for playing out.
The subwoofer alone will set you back £300

Re: Speakers - 12/03/04 02:15 PM

Hi Flyer,

This week I went to listen to a system one of our keyboard members had recently purchased from BCK. It is called the EDIFIER R401 and retails at £69.99 The keyboard was being played in a Senior Citizens communal hall and I was pleasantly surprised at how much this small system enhanced his KN7000. My friend had it playing through his 'earphone' socket, but it also offers direct connection to the Keyboard.

The details are 6.5inch subwoofer - aluminium coil. MDF (wood) cabinets (not plastic). Internal power supply - no wall wart. Quality finish - consistant and safe.

2 x satellite cabinets with 1 x 3 inch - paper coil and 1 x 1 inch membrance dome.

Volume, treble and bass controls.

Cables included for connection to most keyboards/computers. Ideal for keyboard or computer use.

Of course, it is no competition for the systems used by the professionals, but for people like me who only entertain for parties
and occasional small dances, it would be perfectly adequate. Certainly it is well worth checking.

BCK's web address is www.bck.co.uk
or you can Telephone: 01992 524442 or
Fax: 01992 524004

Re: Speakers - 12/03/04 03:20 PM

Tony,

The z2200 will need two adapters, RCA to Phono, a penny or two. They are amplified.

Electronics advance so quickly today. I would look at and if possible listen two what is available unless you have unlimited dollars.

Hi Fran

Thanks for that - don't have unlimited dollars/pounds - I wish ! Think i've got those adaptors hanging around the house . Now where to get them cheapest - Ebay ...

( They are £108.01 at Amazon here in UK which is about $200)

Even better Pixmania £76 plus P+P

Re: Speakers - 12/05/04 03:31 PM

Hi Roger,

Can you tell me how high the amplification is in the self powered speakers? The reason I'm asking is that I understand that if you connect lower power amps than those built in the KN, it could cause damage particularly if there is a need to increase the volume i.e: noisy venue. Or have I got this wrong?

Look forward to hearing what you or anyone else has to say on this subject.

Re: Speakers - 12/05/04 04:22 PM

Don't worry Audrey, it doesn't make a bit of difference what power output the external amp/speaker system has -it will not damage your KN7000
Unless of course, you have 20 Kilowatts per channel at full blast and it shakes your keyboard to bits

Logitech Z2200 Spec.
Nominal Output Power (Total): 200 Watt
Max (RMS) Output Power (Total): 400 Watt
Media Included Qty: 35 - 20000 Hz
Audio Amplifier: Integrated
Connectivity Technology: Wired
Speaker System Details: 2 x right/left channel speaker - 40 Watt ¦ 1 x subwoofer - 120 Watt

Re: Speakers - 12/06/04 03:45 AM

Hi Audrey
To put it in simple terms, when the signal leaves the main outs of the kn7000, the keyboard doesn't care where it goes. The Z2200 handles and improves it very well.

Re: Speakers - 12/06/04 03:46 AM

Bill was spot on with his message, I can only add that I am very happy with the Logitech Z2200 and love the remote volume,no more having to go around the keyboard to set the volume and sound. Have made a 5 foot strap to go under the kn7000 with two holes each side for the small speakers, the subwoofer on the floor in the frount.

I think you are getting a little bit carried away Bill
80W RMS satellites, 120W RMS subwoofer

I took the spec from Amazon's website but as you say Johnnie, it appears to be incorrect 200W Total RMS (Subwoofer plus Satellites) 400W Peak (Max) power.

Hi Can some one tell me if the Logitech is better than my 2 Roland KC50 (50watts rms)
for my KN7000.In Canada if you bye the Tyros it will come with 2 satellite and a sub woofer But you cannot purchase only the sound speakers may be in US.Thanks Hoping a reply

Re: Speakers - 12/06/04 02:50 PM

In my opinion, It would be a mistake to judge the Z2200/2300's on specs alone. I have had many setups over the years, and have had many satellite speakers with more power, but not the punch and clarity of Logitech's new technology. While there is a limit to the throw of a small speaker, it does remarkably well in at least medium venues.

Re: Speakers - 12/06/04 03:34 PM

Specs are one thing but what satisfies the listeners ears is what matters.

I have a pair Roland KC 300,s and the z2200 is just as good in my home and a lot cheaper.

Shop, listen and what suits you is what matters.

Happy shopping...........

Thank you all very much for your comments. From what you say it would seem the Logitech system is better than the one demonstrated by our Club Member.

Tomorrow (sorry today - it's now passed midnight) I am off to PC World to see for myself.

Thanks again all of you.

Re: Speakers - 12/08/04 12:21 PM

Hi,

I called the central PC World telephone number and was informed by the young lady who served me that PC World does not carry the Logitech z2200 speaker system. The best price I can find here in Manchester (besides the reported PC World sale price of £49.99)is £111.00.

Can someone please confirm which PC World store(s) are offering the speakers at the sale price reported?

Thank you.

Hi Rog,

Thanks for responding to my note. I will check local Dixon stores as well as Currys and Comet. I'm afraid Gloucester is too far away to travel for a set of speakers. Take care, Rog.

Today at Fry's Electronics in San Jose, I looked at the Logitech Z2200 at 99.00, the Z2300 at 149.00 and the Z2500 at 199.00.
The Z2300 is 200 watts and the Z2500 is 250 Watts. All USD and none on sale.
I will watch for them to go on sale after christmas and pick up a set
I did buy a PQI 256 MG SD CARD for 19.99 net no rebate required.
I also bought 25 DVD -RW for 17.99 that are Memorex.
ALl excellent buys.
PS: OVer on the General Arranger forum they are talking about the Z5500 unit. Take a lQQKIE C over there at: http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/009531.html

Actually, the z2200 has 3" speakers, whereas the z2300 has 2.5" speakers. Probably wouldn't make much if any real difference though, I wouldn't think.

Hi Fran,
Hope you get this, am having trouble posting perhaps due to new Membership.
Re. my message to you, wherein I mentioned
that I was going directly to Logitech to buy
my speaker system. That all changed being
so close to Christmas. Either the product was back ordered (time unknown) or the model
was changing to the new Logitech Z2300.
Long story made short. I finally ordered and have received the Z-2300. Cost $109.00
Went to radio shack for the adapter's one
store was OUT and the other sold me the wrong adapter. Funny too because I took the
email from you with me to the store so they
could read it.
Question - when you plug in to the back of
the machine the two adapter's plug into the
MAIN OUT (MONO) (R) & (L) correct? Marjorie

Re: Speakers - 01/02/05 07:14 PM

So many posts about the Logetech's, I have the Altec Lansing 621's (very pleased with)
and they appear to be about the same. Two
satellites, with sub. bass. Total Audio
Power 200 watts (100 RMS) Response 35Hz-20Hz,
front fireing wood subwoofer. Remote control, etc. Sound and power is excellent.
Does anyone know for SURE if the Logetech's, are much better sound wise, as they have more speakers. Mine were $99.95 a year or
more ago. Is it worth considering a change
to Logtech's. Thank you all for any input
you may have,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ARJ
