Which downloads will work on the KN2600 if downloads for KN2600 are not listed. For example - is a download for another keyboard compatible with the 2600? If so, which one is it?

Brandi, the KN2600 styles download file is listed on the Technics website at http://www.technicskn7000.com and can be done as individual downloads or as one large SD download with 682 different styles. These are from prior keyboards and are the different styles not included on your keyboard. All have been upgraded for your keyboard and will play without further tweaking. Not a bad deal at all! Go there before Technics shuts down the website. Other make and model keyboards may not be available to convert if you don't have a floppy drive, but maybe you won't need any more than the freebies. But if you do, you'll probably have to contact someone who can do the converting for you, then transfer the file on your pc to your SD card. Good luck, good playing! If I can make it to Leesburg this month, I will check out the Villages, and maybe I'll hear you playing as I drive by.

KN7000 files are compatible.

Since the KN2400 can load KN2000, 3000, 5000, 6000, 6500, 1400 and 1600 files, the 2600 should be the same but I haven't tried it myself. Naturally some tweaking may be necessary on the older formats.

Let me phrase my question differently. I went to www.ca-software.de and clicked on links. I then selected thkmcs.de Switch to English language. There are free downloads for many KN models but the 2600 is not one of them. I was wondering if one of the other models would be compatible with my 2600. EX> if I downloaded for the 2000 would it work in mine? OR - how do you tweak these files to work.
I have already downloaded all the files from the technics website.

I've already listed which model formats should be able to be loaded provided they are in composer format. How they sound depends on other factors since the sample base has changed over the generations of chips. Thus some sounds may be in different octaves occasionally and balance tweaking may be necessary, this can generally be adjusted to taste in the mixer.

Am I assuming correctly that the "Getting The Most..." CD has virtually all of these custom styles ?

yes Bernie. You can download the KN2600 styles for 7000 in addition since these were sanctioned for release after the book was finished.

Re: the Technics FREE downloads.

Did you know that TECHNOTE are offering all 727 styles for the KN7 on a 128mb SD Card at a cost of £59.99 $99.00 plus postage. "The card is organised into separate folders, each one representing a differentkeyboard model. So opening up the KN2600 folder will then reveal all the styles taken from that particular keyboard etc." (Technote's own words as printed in their Techplus Magazine)

It sounds a lot of money but the other evening I spent about two hours downloading those relevant to the KN2600 for the KN7 and as they are only numbered and not named, it's going to take me quite awhile to find outwhat is actually on them.

I have had numerous floppies from Technote over the years and can vouch for their outstanding quality.

Just thought you might be interested.

Hi Brandi,

We currently have a database of over 2000 styles, songs, etc. I've tried to email it to you (160kb virus-free) but all I get back if service unavailible. If you want a copy of it (requires WinZip & Microsoft Access) send a blank email with 'Database' as the subject to the address below.
