Fran in SC - I have a real peeve with you and others by stating "check your email" because this certainly doesn't help any other person on this forum. Quite frankly, this should be a special post regarding this issue. You may mean well by helping the individual but you are not helping anyone else if this is of interest to them. May I suggest to ALL members of this forum to remember this in the future.

It's a shame that files can't be posted on this forum Scott which is what I suspect Fran in SC was doing in this and other similar instances.

if the files were from retail disks then it would not only be against the rules of the forum but could even get the forum closed down so Fran is doing an extremely sensible thing by keeping it private.

The explanation certainly does help! Like many others, I too have been "peaved" that the request responses are frequently provided "privately"......

On a forum where "sharing" is a purpose.... isn't there a way around the existing challenge?

try looking at the poster's profile and email them a polite request? sometimes works wonders compared to moaning about not getting something for nothing as if it's a right.

Perhaps you are right regarding this matter but it seems to me that if there is no profit made in using someone's commercial disk it shouldn't be a problem posting it on the forum. Case in point: Libraries rent books on a daily basis. Isn't this an infringement on copyright? Many times I see new published reference books on fine art. I don't run out and buy them for I go to the library and if they don't have it, they get it in for me. I am allowed to keep it for sometimes two weeks. This gives me time to scan and copy anything I want. Isn't this the same thing? We well know that the libraries aren't shutting down anytime soon from causing the writer and publisher from losing money from sales of their books because libraries loan out their books.

Also, are you aware that you can not copyright arrangements? I don't know why this is but according to a complete book on copyright laws that I have it states that you can't. This is United States law. What happens in the U.K. and other countries could be different.

ridiculous... libraries pay copyright out of your taxes. Yamaha lawyers sent letters with threats to sue sites that even posted the internal styles of their current keyboards, let alone their retail disks. Ask Nigel how long SZ would last if he allowed posting of retail disks.

Folks,as some of you know I do a lot of style convertion from other keyboard types, but I only offer the styles that are FREE downloads and PUBLIC DOMAIN, often it is in order to state where the original styles came from ie:- Roland ,Yamaha etc but do not forget theses styles are posted for free use and distribution for those keybords so no copywrite is involved.
