Where is middle C

Where is middle C - 02/06/02 11:22 AM

Hi all
Where is middle C on the KN6000, I play it at C4 but my friend plays it at C3 which he states is correct, but I notice that his music teacher always records his lessons at C3 plus 1 octave IE. C4.
Which is correct or dosn't it matter what position its played in.
regards
Brian

depends on the voice, the split, whether APC is on, the R1/R2 octave and the Transpose and therefore is not constant.

So you are both right if you are both playing 440Hz??

OOPS ! I always thought 440Hz was 'A' - Slip of the finger ? ?

Hi Bill,
yes, 440 is of course the A above middle C, the famous 'oboe' drone! I was thinking of my tuning fork!
If A is 440 then middle C must be 264 (or 277 in equal temperament?)
I always meant to get a middle C tuning fork - much easier with keyboards
