Keyboard Capers - 06/23/02 02:46 AM

Dear Friends
We run our own web site here in the U.K. specifically for Technics
keyboard owners: http://communities.msn.co.uk/KeyboardCapers
it is run in conjunction with a local club which meets fortnightly to
both socialise and to learn more from each other about how to play.
Please feel free to visit this site and sign up as a member - you'll
be most welcome...

Many thanks Gunnar - I think practically all the regular contributors to this site have 'signed up' with Keyboard Capers too for which I am very grateful - some day Keyboard Capers will have to produce its own web site rather than relying on MSN - we've purchased our domain name Keyboard Capers.co.uk but are not sure how to move forward from there.....
Bets wishes

An I the only one who doesn't understand how the site "works", I have yet to read a message. Seems more complicated than this one, or am I just stupid, (perhaps we should vote on this) Walter.

Yep! Me Too! I found it a bit 'Unfriendly' compared to this site, which is an absolute 'Doddle'
What say Roger ?

Yep, Me too. I have visited this site a few times and even accepted the e-mails from it for a while but eventually stopped going there because I lost interest. It seems more like a place to visit to find links to other sites. Having said that, someone has gone to a lot of work to make it and they should be applauded for "having a go"

Re: Keyboard Capers - 07/08/02 05:50 PM

Hi all,
I think the confusion is more to do with the way MSN communities operate than the site itself. I am a member of a couple of msn groups and yes initially they are different from say Yahoo and such.

Like any new site or group you get out of it what you put in so I don't think it quite right to write keyboardCapers off just yet. I mean until a few months ago there were only a few of us at this very forum before the exodus from technote. In fact from what I see KeyboardCapers is currently generating more traffic/posts than this forum did for a long time. With a bit of effort and a lot of enthusiasm this forum has grown beyond all recognition.

Lets not be too quick to down what can only be an added resource.(I can never spell that word!!!) There is little enough decent technics stuff around on the web so lets nurture and encourage or we may end up bemoaning the fact that those strange Yamaha people have taken over the internet.

Re: Keyboard Capers - 07/09/02 03:20 AM

Hi Everybody and thanks for your comments.
Midge and I are very new to web sites and really intended the site to be a place where folk could find references to anything and everything to do with Technics keyboards rather than a forum or chat area like Synthzone is...
In any event I think it takes a while to build something as sophisticated as this site (Synthzone)and build the marvellous support you all give it; but we will keep adding things to our site as time goes by and as someone said we are rather limited by what MSN allows us to do...
We'd much rather build our own from scratch but haven't got the faintest how to start although we have purchased the domain name Keyboard Capers.co.uk
It's back to school I guess!!!

Re: Keyboard Capers - 07/09/02 07:05 AM

Hi, I went to your website and the first thing I clicked on was Panel Memories. It came up wanting me to sign up for Microsoft Passport. I will NOT sign up for that. That plus the Product Activation is why I have not updated to Windows XP.

I know you have no say on that since this is Microsoft site and Microsoft is determined to take over the Internet. I get extremely aggravated at Bill Gates and his business practices. I have to use his operating system but I try to avoid everything else if possible.

Sorry to rant and rave like this, just a pet peeve of mine.

I do wish you luck on your site.

Re: Keyboard Capers - 07/09/02 04:27 PM

Hello Nobby!
What I did not say was that the Yammie motorcycle I had threw me two weeks after purchase resulting in massive dental bills and scars that remain to this day! Of course it was the bikes fault and nothing whatever to do with me being half asleep on my way to work and not seeing the truck parked up in front of me. It certainly had nothing to do with me being seventeen and a bit stupid. The former has been corrected by time and the latter by bitter experience!! Never got on a bike again though. Four wheels for me, much safer for all concerned My new car has cruise control so I assume that when I am tired on the way to work in future I can sleep secure in the knowledge that the auto-pilot will take over

BUT back to keyboards ..... I was of course only jesting when I called yammie people strange To be honest I have always considered Technics to be far superior instruments UNTIL I played the 9000PRO. I love it. However I love my KN 6000 as I did my 5000 before it. I am seriously considering (when the 7000 & Tyros are launched) taking advantage of the price reductions and KEEPING the 6000 and buying a 9000PRO. That way I will get the best of both worlds!

I know that Scott Yee who has been a long time devoted technics fan purchased the PSR 2000 and was so impressed that he sold his KN 5000. When you can impress pro players of Scotts calibre then Yamaha MUST be doing something right in my opinion.

Now if Harley made K/B's I guess life would be perfect

Re: Keyboard Capers - 07/09/02 06:27 PM

BTW Nobby.....
Diddn't you own the korg i30 once over? I must have missed you getting a yammie...which did you go for? I remember you loved the i30 are you glad you changed? I owned the korg i40m (module) for a while but just could not get used to the OS. Hated the way that styles were loaded in. Very confusing I thought. (But then again it don't take much to confuse me!!)

I looked at the PA80 as well but was put off by the style thing (as above). I suppose that with a bit of perseverence I would have got used to it.

Still playing the Sax? My my all these questions........ I,m in danger of turning into Anne Robinson (I believe that the USA has had the recent if dubious pleasure of Ms Robinson )

Hi Gilbert,
