Hi Ponty
Depending on where you loaded it from, the SD, or floppy, you should have full control using the SD volume button or APC/Sequencer slider. With the main volume up and either of the others down, you should be able to balance it fine, unless you are playing direct from your computer. Then use Line in Volume.

I had a 5000 for three years before I purchased the 7000, and found it to be the best keyboard I had ever owned. I had many keyboards and found the kn5000 to be not only the best, but also the easiest when you get used to it's OS. It is only as complicated as you make it. Start out with the basics and learn one thing at a time. I played gigs with it and it had a nonworking disk drive, which is why I can't answer the question of volume because at that time I didn't use midi.
It is a great workhorse. Hang in there.

your kn5000 has a step record menu in the sequencer, use this to permanently change the volume of each track of the midi file before saving. Otherwise it also has a velocity change menu, it may be easier to reduce the velocity of all tracks at once in steps of -5 or -10 until the volume is reduced to a point where your lead voice is louder.
