KN7000 OS Upgrade - 09/17/05 08:58 AM

I see in one of my manuals that there were OS upgrades in the past from Technicskn7000.com web page which is no longer there. I checked my KN7000 level and its at NTSC Ver 1.3. Not sure if that was the last upgrade from technics. Anybody know about this and if there is a later upgrade where to get it?

Marty, there was a bogus upgrade floating around some time ago, but people were advised not to use it, since it wasn't released by Technics - if I remember correctly. My KN7000 has Version 1.6 which was factory installed. I don't know of any way to upgrade, or if it would even make a difference. As the optimist says: If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Or, as the pessimist says: If you can't fix it, don't break it! We kind of have to live with what we have, right?

If I am not mistaken, the confusion abounded, as Bud said as to legitimacy. However, the upshot was that the upgrade was mostly to do with a language matter for the European market. The only real thing it helped the U.S. with, was fixing the SD counter. As it is now, the percent used is not accurate after about 12%.

You aren't missing a thing as far as the general consensus went.

Hi Marty,
IMO
Bernie is correct,

The upgrade was mainly for the SD Card accuracy, in that the % of used space remaining is inaccurate on the keyboard display. The update supposedly fixed that and other minor tweeks, that do very little.

Bud is also correct
No need to upgrade.

Check the capacity remaining on the SD Card on your computer for an accurate account.

Insert card into computer, right click properties, similar to checking a floppy drive. It will show used and available space on your SD Card.
