Cost of new KN-2600

Cost of new KN-2600 - 07/16/03 05:24 PM

Can anyone tell me what the price of the new KN-2600 Keyboard will be in the United States? I have called several dealers but they don't know yet or they are not interested. I also wrote to Technics several
days ago and got no reply.
I see prices in the other countries but not the USA.
Thanks for any reply

Hi Larry W.

From Synthplanet.com

KN7000 : $2,863.48

KN2600 : $1,304.16

KN2400 : $941.39

This is the lowest price that I know of, however maybe someone has a better deal.

I just received a 2600 today via UPS. Paid $1,399.99 from my friendly dealer. I sold a 6500 to move to the 2600.

Re: Cost of new KN-2600 - 07/17/03 01:23 PM

Thank you all for the prices of the KN-2600 and the PSR 2100. After seeing a friends PSR 2000 and saw all the features plus the spec's for the 2100 I compared them to the spec's of the KN-2600. Not being able to get a price for the KN-2600 from two dealers who only had brochures I opted for the PSR 2100. I was under the impreion that the KN-2600 had a SD card but the spec's do not say YES.
As for what I am paying for my PSR 2100 it is $1195.95 Just over the border from Penna into NJ. For that price I also get the Survial Pak and CD, Head phones, power supply and foot pedal, and 2 year extended warranty.
Also only 3 percent tax instead of 6 percent.
Thank you all for the information

Re: Cost of new KN-2600 - 07/17/03 02:55 PM

The KN2600 has the SD Card which is like getting a hard drive(s). Strangely the 2600 has no floppy drive like it's Papa, the 7000.

The KN2400 does not have the SD Card, but rather only a floppy drive.

It is my understanding that both are compatible with the 7000, so I would asume, like the KN7000, the KN2600 and the KN2400 will be compatable with all KN Keyboards, although I'm not 100% sure of that.

Tough Decisions picking a keyboard now-a-days. They are all really good.

Good Luck

Is this post private for "Larry's" only?

All we need is Gosmeyer to confirm my suspicion.

Re: Cost of new KN-2600 - 07/17/03 05:53 PM

Grandpa Doug, A friend of mine brought his PSR 2000 to the house and showed all the features etc. He had a KN-2000 then 3000 and then a KN-5000. He sold it and went to the PSR 2000 At this time he likes it so much that he feels that he will not return to Technics. He helped sway me to the new PSR 2100 after hearing his 2000. I had no opportunity to see or hear a KN-2600.

Then again "YOU" said ( if I remember correctly)that although the voices are not as perfect as Technics, and since I play for the senior group of people and health care centers, the people probably would not know the difference anyway. Now that helped also.

I'm 83 years old now, but in my younger years played the Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, (I really liked that one)and piano. I had one other technics before my Technics KN-920 which I just sold.
Excellent sound and voices but thought now I would purchase my last keyboard. I hope to live to be about 110 hoping to have all my sences and still entertain. Therefore I did make a purchase that I hope that I will not be sorry for.
I tried to Thank you before for your comments by e-mail but it kept bouncing back.
Anyone who want to kid me about the switch please do so, I will not be offended.

John,
Sorry I stated it incorrectly

What I said:
Strangely the 2600 has no floppy drive like it's Papa, the 7000.

What I meant :
The 2600 has no floppy drive, even though it's Papa, the 7000 does.

Ya See Its the Pennsylvania language I grew up on...know whadda mean ?

LOL !

It takes me that long to decide on whole wheat or rye.

Re: Cost of new KN-2600 - 07/18/03 07:31 AM

Whole wheat or rye? All that time to decide? Maybe you need to decide from a spec sheet instead of tasting them. Be sure the one you pick has an exlax survival kit. Don’t want that rye to get stopped right in the middle of things and before it comes to the end. Better yet, Larry, get a friend. That way you can sit in the old rocker and won’t have to make any decisions. If his taste don’t work out for you, you can always blame him. Nice to always have a fall guy handy. It’s done in the best of circles today. Personal responsibility is old fashion as you may well know. Anyway, keep your posts coming. Very informative and they sure make this forum a pleasant place to visit for information and the good of the soul. Know whadda mean?

As soon as you play with your new KN2600, let us know what you like/dislike. Give us a detailed review.
Isn't moving from a KN6500 to a KN2600 a downgrade?

Just venting about Technics.
Larry Warner said,"Not being able to get a price for the KN-2600 from two dealers ".
Why can't the dealer get prices from Technics?
The Technics (Canada) website does not have an email address. They also don't show the KN2400/2600 on their stupid form. Their Technics (non keyboard) email is not functioning. I sent an email to Technics U.S. and still did not get a reply as to a dealer in Toronto. If it is that difficult to demo/buy a Technics, what will the service level be like?

Re: Cost of new KN-2600 - 07/18/03 01:43 PM

Regarding the Technics trouble in getting prices etc. Before my ordering the PSR
I went to Technics web site and clicked on Keyboards. They do not show the new KN-2400 or 2600. They do show the KN-7000. It was rather discouraging not able to find out anything about a new product they are trying
(?????) to promote. I would have ordered
the PSR so soon if I could have found out more information about the KN-2600. I have called several other dealers since and none still know anything

CORRECTION - I would not have ordered the PSR so soon if I could have gotten more information on the KN-2600, seen one and tried it out. At least I was able to do so with the PSR 2000 that my friend brought to my house, and knowing the 2100 was an inprovement.

Re: Cost of new KN-2600 - 07/21/03 01:43 PM

Hey You Guys!

I'm having a ball "listening" to all the opinions flying about here! My sad position in S.A. is that I have not even seen the KN7000 or the newer KN2400/2600 models , but I don't think I would ever trade my KN6500 for the KN2600, simply for the sake of getting the SD facility! It does sound like a downgrade. Unless there are other attractive new features which the KN6500 doesn't have?

Keep up the lively discussions, all!

Regards

Star,
I haven't received the new PSR 2100 yet. I hope to received it in another week or so. I will let you know how those two voices are. I certainly won't pull any punches if they don't sound the way I think they should.

Re: Cost of new KN-2600 - 07/22/03 07:55 AM

To John C. and Starkeeper who inquired about my "trade down" from a 6500 to the 2600----I'm not sure what to say. I'd had the 6500 for two years and was ready for something new. The 7000 was too pricey. After auditioning the 2600, I decided to make the plunge and not look back. So far, no regrets. The 2600 presents many new styles, much of which are contemporary. Even tho' it has the jazz, big band, latin styles etc.,it seems pitched toward much of the current musical market. Since I create backing tracks for others and myself, that's partially why I went for it. The various sounds (woodwinds, brass, pianos, etc.) sound a little harsh or brittle compared to the 6500. However, that may stem from the reverb and other effects used. Others might hold different opinions on this. The rhythm section is really tight and sounds more musical than previous KN boards. The bass line tracks better than any board I've had. And remember, the 2600 will play the styles from the 7000 via the SD card, altho' I've not tried that. The keys have a more plastic feel compared to the 6500. The screen is smaller, non-color, but easy to view. Many of the functions seem the same. I've not cracked the manual as yet and have had no problems with it. By the way, I'm a recent convert to the PSR family and just sold the 2000. The 2100 is scheduled to arrive this week. It should be fun to explore the best of both boards.

I finally received a reply from Technics Musical Instruments. The suggested retail price of the SXKN-2600 is $2099.00.
They also sent a list of 16 dealers in the State of Pennsylvania. Anywheres from a one hour drive to a four hour drive away. Mostly at least 2 hours. Double that time for a round trip. Thought it would be nice to let you know that I finally did hear.
