Microsoft Vista, What effect will it have on SD management?

Microsoft Vista, What effect will it have on SD management? - 11/19/06 12:47 AM

The Microsoft VISTA operating system will be on new computers and also available for
upgrading on older systems shortly.

What will happen to Song Manager - will it still work? It may possibly no longer function in this version. SD Explorer Tool I am sure will not.

It had crossed my mind to perhaps get a new PC but in view of these questions I will stick with Microsoft XP which will presumably be supported for a few years yet.......Joan

Microsoft have provided a Free VISTA Beta version, so if you have a spare partition on your Hard-Drive you could try it to test your programs.
Most program however can be switched to compatibility mode to simulate Win XP or other earlier OS versions.

Anyone contemptating an upgrade or installation of Microsoft's soon to be released 'Vista', would be well advised to read this article - it's a bit lengthy but worth reading.......

I have Vista installed on a new partition on this PC. It works fine, but will not let me install my Nokia SmartPhone software, or Bitdefender which is my favoured AV software.

Most things can be installed in compatibility mode but some stuff it just can't hack!

Also the only soundcard drivers I can find for Vista are quite basic so I am not in a rush to install it on my music PC.
