KN5000 composer - 08/09/02 05:00 PM

I once owned a Roland E86 ( I didnt't Play it But I did own it ) What I liked was the fact that the accompaniment pattern changed according to the type of chord played. Major, Minor, Seventh. It there a way to do that with the KN5000. Or has that feature incorporated into Later keyboards.

I believe I am right in stating this feature was added to the KN3000 but not incorporated in later models. The Korg i30 I owned also had this and as you say is a very good feature by making the accompaniment less repetitive.

I think you're right Graham, the Composer Map
feature added to the KN3000 is not present at
the KN5000.
Maybe it was not that popular, we've only seen
a few styledisks where this function was in use
too.

the 6000 and onwards has a feature called chord modify change whereby you can define how a pattern reacts to various chord changes. This is considerably more advanced than just major/minor/seventh systems since there are something like 23 types of response to chord changes which can be programmed not only for each track of the accompaniment seperately but also individually for each seperate note in each accompaniment track. This also applies to the pads.

Seems a great feature to me, but who can give a simple example of how it works? Is the next possible for instance:
I play a C-chord and the bass plays C-C-E-E
I play a C7-chord, and the bass plays C-E-E-C

Thanks guys
And for Albetrg.. Try composing a pattern for Stand BY ME... To way the base line will be correct when you switch to the minor chord.. Sure it's passible.. But with the feature I explained you can copmpose a pattern that wil be right on!!!

Speaking of Styles.. Have we all found.. http://www.ca-software.de/

in answer to Albert, a bass line of C E E C would be pretty boring playing on the leading seventh back to the tonic.

But you could certainly choose say, C G E E, C Bb E E, C A E E or C D E E or any combinations thereof quite easily.

And this need not be for the entire pattern on the seventh, as you could, but just for the last measure with the earlier measure(s) playing normally. You can choose the note(s) to be affected by the chord change, and those that are not.

Something similar to a dynamic accompaniment type of effect without the velocity triggering, but with 7th triggereing in this particular example.
