Re: update 1,4 for kn7000 - 12/11/02 06:55 AM

Altavista translator:

Whats New in 1.4

1. Some German-language reference texts in the display were revised.
2. The separate output can be regulated now also by the express ion pedal.

The version 1.4 consists of 4 disks. It concerns in principle 2 updates. First (disk 1 and 2) contains a program update and must be implemented as the first. The second update (disk 3 and 4) updates the Tables.
------

There must be other updates too because it updates also the Tables!

Re: update 1,4 for kn7000 - 12/11/02 06:56 AM

The translation (mind my english)

Version 1.4. excisted 4 disks (two programms.)

The first two disks (disk 1 and 2) is a normal update.

the two others (disk 3 and 4) actualise the tables??

I personally never heart of tables at the Technics instruments I know Yamaha has a database.
So what the last two disks exactly do, i don't know.
Maybe Alex knows.

I've read all the comments made thus far. I'm not sure that the English is any clearer than the German! Do these files have to be downloaded and are they safe to use? Several comments refer to "disks" rather than downloaded files.

The first two disk KN7.14-1 exe and KN7.14-2 exe are the usual update disks.

the other two are updates I think for the German language in the heplfiles and so on.

All four exe-files are selfextracting disk images. When you execute them it will ask you to insert empty formatted disk into A:drive. Press (Weiter) two times and after a minute or two you have one disk finished.

When you have all four disketted ready, continue update procedure but this time with two disk sets. Remember to do check procedure for both disk sets before doing actual update.

Second set updates "tables" which I think is table between selected rythm and actual sounds in Wave-ROM. It's first time in Technics history that you can update also tables using diskettes. I don't know how to display current table-version as before with KN5000/6x00.

I think it's important to update both sets same time.

Working on the old saying of 'If it's not broken - don't mend it' It might be wise to wait a few days to see if anything appears on the technicskn7000.com site.

I made the upgrade...the four disks.
I first chequed if they were alright and there was no problem.
I don't see any difference...I think it is a minor upgrade.

Hi everyone,
Just had a speedy reply from Chris Whitehead at Panasonic. His reply is:-

"Hi John,

I would reccomend you wait until we issue this upgrade on our site as the
installation is slightly different to previous keyboards. Doing this
procedure wrong could stop the keyboard from working. Also we are currently
evaluating this version. It will be posted on the www.technicskn7000.com as
soon as we have done english instructions and have finished evaluating it.

Best Regards
Chris Whitehead"

Re: update 1,4 for kn7000 - 12/13/02 05:48 AM

judging by the size of the software tables upgrade I would suggest the information consists of the help pages, perhaps the actual preset patterns, maybe the sound presets programs, could also include the style database programs. Taiyo imply they have changed the German help pages. The smallest change to any one parameter may well require a complete data erasure and re-load. Just be aware of the possible consequences before you attempt this.

Re: update 1,4 for kn7000 - 02/22/03 09:37 AM

Has Chris Whitehead evaluated the Update 1.4 for the 7000 as yet? If so why is it not posted on the KN7000 site? Was this Update issued by Technics? If so, why was it not supplied to the Official 7000 site?

This has been up in the air for a long time.

I think we need an official explanation before I will install.

Are you listening Eddie Williams? You have been more than helpfull to me in the past.

Hang on a moment!! Is Chris indicating that this upgrade was initiated by some third party and not by Technics? Otherwise, why the need to evaluate it?

Re: update 1,4 for kn7000 - 02/24/03 03:15 AM

As far as I am aware, this update was not initiated by Technics, but by Taiyo. As I said before, it's probably best to wait until the update appears on the Technics KN7000 support site, with appropriate instructions. It has also been mentioned above, in this thread, that incorrect installation could totally 'screw-up' the operating system.

Bill,

I aggree with you. Mine sounds sweet and until it sours or Technics puts out an update it stays as is.

If someone installed the Taiyo wrong and had a problem would Technics honor a repair?

[QUOTE]As far as I am aware, this update was not initiated by Technics, but by Taiyo.QUOTE]

Taiyo is the same as Technote in England or even more.
They are the headdealer for Technics in Germany while Technote isn't. Technote company is a shop which sells music instruments.
So for everyone who is afraid to use updates and so on by thinking Taiyo have not the official approval, or initiated updates from the Japanese is wrong.

What suprises me in this question is :
We never heard something about what has changed in new updates. But when Technics UK is still evaluating it and I remember that's always the question by the updates, why we get never answers on members questions what has changed in the updates. I think when you evalute you has to know what you are evaluating and find the differencis of older versions.

So they don't know what they are evaluating and saying this is to keep us at ease or ??
