Kn7000 Pedals - 08/20/03 12:21 PM

I just got the bass pedals from Technote ;-)

How easy is it to change the sound effects on here and can I add percusion sounds as well

Would it be possible for someone to send me some step by step guides

Cheers

Check Larry Gosmeyers site.
He is a master at multi recording.

Hi Andrew, I just got my pedals Monday. I plug them in the back of the "IN" midi of the keyboard. The other end into the pedals.
The moved switch in the back of the keyboard. I one of the positions will allow you to use the keyboard setup. Which one/ Trial and error.

1-Press Program Menu---Right top of the keyboard.
2-Press sound -- left top of window
3-Press part setting --Left top of window.
4-Scroll through with the part select buttons --left top of window.
5-Pass 1 thru 16, next window is for Bass Pedals. Select your instrument and Save it in the Panel Memory.

You can select any instrument you want. Bass, drums, sax, ect.

Enjoy, John C.

Not exactly a reply to Andrew's question but on a similar topic. I use a Roland Pc300 keyboard mounted under my KN7000 to take the left hand, freeing the entire length of the KN7000 for right hand work but I also have foot pedals which I would like to use as well. The midi switch on the 7000 has a one or the other function. Does anyone know of any way that this can be overcome so that both second keyboard AND pedals can be used together. The Roland board does not have a midi input so the pedals can't go through that and although I also have a KN1500 I don't want to use that as the second keyboard as it can't be fitted under the 7000 as tightly as the very slim Roland.
Any ideas folks?

Hi Trevor,
I used to use all sorts of little boxes for different midi functions, when I had my synthesizers & computer hooked up ( many years ago).
I don't know how the pedals or adding an additional keyboard works on the KN7 but maybe some sort of a box might work?? http://www.midisolutions.com/prodmrg.htm

best wishes

Thanks for that rikki. I have used midi mergers in the past when I was using 4 or 5 keyboards and I am sure that that would be the answer if the 7000 had a straightforward midi-in terminal.. It's this two-way switch thing that bothers me. I think I had better ask Technics direct.

Thanks again. All the best...Trevor

Hi Trevor,
Yes, you can use a second keyboard and a pedal board with the KN7000 to effectively create a 2 manual organ with pedals but to acheive this you also need a MIDI merge box to combine the 2 sets of data before they are fed to the KN. You connect the MIDI outputs from the 2nd keyboard and the pedal board to MIDI inputs 1 and 2 on the Merge box and the MIDI output of this to the MIDI input on the KN.
Make sure that the MIDI input switch on the KN is NOT set to pedal mode otherwise all inputs will be played on the bass pedal part.
You will then need to assign appropriate MIDI channels to match the external keyboard and Bass Pedals to the parts you wish them to play.
Suitable MIDI merge boxes are available in the UK from Phil Rees.
If you require more info don't hesitate to contact me either on this forum or directly.
