Tempo Wheel - KN 7000

Hi every one,

Regarding the tempo wheel, where the tempo speed can be adjusted.

I experience that I turn the wheel and there are sections that it does not move the tempo speed.

Are there any adjustments?

Hello Doron,

I sometimes have this problem with one of my KN7000 keyboards. It is usually only temporary but to be on the safe side, I set the correct tempo to the song, in a panel memory - say A1 then I go to page 2 of the save facility and switch 'OFF' THE TEMPO By doing this you will ensure that your particular song (or maybe all 8 panel memories if they are also setup) will always have that tempo setting and whatever else you do or load will not alter that.

What does it mean?

Will the smallest turning move (up or down) say 1 degree will alter the tempo in 1 up or down respectively?

Hi Doron,

Temporary means just that. It doesn't always do it. When it does, I can usually get out of it by either initialising the keyboard or switching off and then on again.

I have also taken note of when this happens and it is usually after I have been using another person's setup where they had used the sequencer or, I had used an old preloaded floppy where the sequencer had also been used. Also some midi files seem to have the same affect on the tempo wheel. Both my keyboards are v.3 and I know from this Forum that there are later versions to be had. Later versions of course, are produced to deal with problems so maybe this particular problem has been dealt with in a later version. You could try asking Technics Player, he is an expert on the keyboard's technology and may well know the answer.

2. Does latest version S/W handles the Tempo wheel sensitivity?

Regarding the tempo wheel,
Hi Doron.
I had this problem on my KN2000 and it was very bad. it worked when it wanted to.
Embarrassing when gigging.
I levered the wheel off it comes off quite easy.
I then put a little WD40 onto the spindle enough to run down the spindle and refresh the contacts and it has worked fine ever since.It's over three years since I did it.

I initialized the KN7000 with the factory setting, according to Audrey guides.

It works better, however when circling it fast it skips the temp recording.

Is it normal?

Joe, How did you remove the tempo wheel? That is very interesting.

I will be happy remove the temp wheel and to put WD 40.

Regarding the KN 7000 version, I have 1.3

Will new version address the tempo wheel sensitivity?

I just tried it on my KN7000 in case it was different to the KN2000, It's not! I used a penknife it came out very easy. Because of the angle of the spindle you had better put the KN7000 on a bed and prop it up with pillows or other thing just to give a good downward path for the WD 40 to penetrate.

Wow, it is so easy to remove the tempo wheel and to put the Spray.

I use electronic contact spay that also contains lubrication as well as assists for better electronics contact. It did help. I am so happy about it!

I will definitely spay the temp wheel pivot again, I will use WD40

That is good thinking it gives the WD 40 more time to reach the contacts.

Well !! I really should have gone to The Oracle first.
