Recording on the 7000

On recording with the 7000 via USB, to the little recording software provided by Technics, and later recording directly to Cakewalk, I find that in some cases the recording volume level could use some adjustment. I have tried all the audio level adjustments on the computer, so can someone please tell me if it is possible to adjust the volume on the USB input to the computer other than just the volume controls on the 7000?

I have produced a few tracks via the usb and have found the same problems as you, I also would appreciate any advice on sharpening up the vocals, I've been through all of the mike setting options on my 7000 but the recordings all sound a bit bassy (vocal wise)
having said that the recordings are more than acceptable for producing demo CDs for potential new customers for my services.

I decided to add a post to this thread just to bring it back up for another look. I have no idea what to do about this problem but surely someone on the forum can offer help.

Thanks Bob! This has got me beat, so I am adjusting volume's in Cakewalk. It only takes a little more time.

the solution is to maximise the mix as much as possible on the 7000 screen. It is easy to normalise after recording but you tend to waste dynamic range that way. I record with everything maxed as much as possible in the 7k mixer and reduce the monitor volume accordingly. This gives a higher level clean wave file through the usb. I needed to artificially boost eq and do specific sound editing to actually get clipping, but this can be fixed in cool edit or sound forge easily if need be. If you find the mic too bassy try standing away a little and projecting into it more... might give a better balance?
