How do you guys organize/classify your patches?

A few dozen's nothing but what about a few thousand?
I'm using SoundDiver3 building libraries and some ideas would be extremely helpful.

Use your ears, and describe the sound you hear.
If it's a bright brassy synth patch, put that down!

I'm hopefully getting SoundDiver 3.0 soon, I have 2.1 at the moment, and I shpild have a free update (or at least thats what it says on the box).

Hi,

Personally, I follow Roland's Patch and Category Conventions. If you own a Super-JV synth, you can see their Categories along with the patch info. And they include with their L-CD Sample CDs their complete naming system info.

Since I have thousands of Roland Patches in Gigs of storage, I find it easier to stay with their naming convention so that my custom Patches are more easily accessed amidst the huge quantity of sounds I have to wade through.
