Ketron KEYBOARD owner in the NY/NJ area? - 11/08/06 12:40 PM

I'm a professional one-man-band. Is there a Ketron KEYBOARD owner living in the NY/NJ area who can help me. I'd like to buy a Ketron keyboard (the SD1+ or the SD5). I've been a Roland user most of my life, but I'm now very impressed with Ketron. I've only ever heard the many demo's I've downloaded here on the Net and not heard anyone actually play it. As you know, they are not available in local stores. Would I be able to view YOUR keyboard, can you show me around the keyboard a bit (what it can do?), or possibly can I listen to you play it on a live presentation? Or help in any way?

Thank you

Fran, thanks....but I contacted them already. Lou is a real OK person, invited me up to play the unit in the showroom as long as I want. Unfortunately, as many years as I've been playing auto-accompaniment keyboards, I don't know how to fully explore every feature on the Ketron. Getting the sounds and dance styles are easy enough, but it's the nuances that make a Ketron a Ketron is what I want to examine. It's a complex unit and there is no one on board to explain how the keyboard works! Then I still have to determine the different features between the SD1+ and the SD5 before I buy one!

Hey Mark
I've been using Roland since last year when I decide to get SD1+.
For beginnig I was disapointed for the luck of patches...from 3600... VA76 to 385 or someting...but why thousands when less but better!
Now,after one year of using it day by day I must admit is a perfect keyboard for Live playing.Very present and natural.Don't forget the vocalist and sampler...really helpful.Check waht can be done with samplings http://home.no.net/viocaia/ketron.htm

Good luck

Hi Fran...I live in the NY/NJ area. AJ is in Baltimore, about a 5-6 hour drive. About the only way I'm going to be able to explore a Ketron is to find someone who is playing one around here. These things really are scarce, great but scarce!

Just for everyone's information. Bell Duovox is no longer the distributor in the USA. Lou and Aldo have sold their distribution rights to a new company.

Mark79100,

I am in Phili (no longer Baltimore) and you're welcomed to stop by the lab when you have a chance.

Thanks,

AJ
