bug for Midjay? - 01/26/06 10:40 AM

has any other owner of the Midjay had this problem...i have edited a style, changing the lead instrument, balances, lower off etc and then saved this to disk..however when i load a different style (one of the factory styles) the edits i did with the previous style stay resident..ie the new style does not load its own settings? hs this happend to anyone else, or are there any tips on how to midjay to do this..
thanks
dennis
BTW using vers 3 op sys

*****Scratch this post...i have since discovered that in every onboard style the lead instrument is the el piano, at the same volume level...i am used to boards that actually have lead instruments/levels set for different styles..obviously with this one you have to go thru and setup all of your own****

manic2257,
You are correct. The style only controls the parameters within the style (Drums, Bass, Chords ..etc). However you might want to consider using REGISTRATIONS (which are panel settings - these memorize styles and lead voices and effects, midi, split ...etc).

Thanks,

AJ

thanks AJ, yes the registrations look very handy!!!
can i ask another tech question please?
trying to make up a ins file for cakewalk and i have the Technical Tables, but i am confused..on page 3 (and i'll use prg 31 for this example) it says control 0, value 1 with prg 31 gives you hawaiian, but on page 8 the same specs (control 0 value 1) actually give you 12 strg???? is this a misprint, or is there LSB data missing, or can you explain how the Ketron system works?
thanks heaps
dennis
Just to add, i have received an email from ketron advising it IS a misprint in the technical data tables...so that explains it, they are going to update these in the future

no need to trouble yourself AJ looking for an answer i have it worked it out now, and i will have a cakewalk ins file shortly which will make setting up MIDI's to play on it so much quicker and easier..btw trying to edit MIDI files on-board this thing is very "clunky", surprising as it claims to be a specialist MIDI file player...still, it sounds pretty good and the drums are very very good (nearly as good as the PA!) so you have to overlook the shortcomings...more about this when i post a review a bit later...suffice to say i feel the op sys has a long way to go..as has the manual
cheers
