The Audya Software Project

The Audya Software Project - 06/04/19 02:22 PM

Hello,

I have an Audya 76 that has slept in its case for 10 years.
Why?
I took it only once in a live gig, and unfortunately I found it so much heavy weight to carry.... and you know why? It crashed during the show...
So then, I did not took the risk anymore to use it on a gig, but I was always impressed by its sounds !

I think it's time to make it live again, but in another form.

I am the creator of the vArranger software, and I had the dream to play the good Audya styles in vArranger, with better stability, than the Audya itself that is very sensitive piece of hardware

vArranger can already play many kind of styles Ketron/Roland/Korg/Yamaha/Technics, but now it's time to think about the good old Audya

Nothing is done yet, but want to share my mind here with Audya users
I hope it will still power on 10 years later, and I need some motivation to carry it from its case, and find some place in the room too smile

The Audya Software will be only available to someone who own an Audya and vArranger

For now, I do it only for myself, but who knows, maybe some other Audya and vArranger users has some interest on it

Re: The Audya Software Project - 06/05/19 03:01 AM

Hi Dan,
I have an Audya4 and also the Varranger2.
Can you describe it in more detail what is different.
Probably you can play with foreign styles directly,
which the Varranger can also.
I'm already playing with the Varranger in my Auday4,
which works very well.
How is it installed, is it a hardware or do I still need a PC,
which of course could make things more unstable.
What are the benefits and what will it cost.
I think I would be one of the first ones to have it.

Many greetings

Re: The Audya Software Project - 06/05/19 04:41 AM

Thanks AJ, I will contact you.

Freakman, I want to play the Audya style in vArranger, not in Audya.

First, I am working on AUDIODRUMS.

You need to copy your \system\audiodrum\ folder (8GB!)
in your computer

For now, I can play those audiodrums in the computer, and change the tempo, and it sounds pretty well smile

Re: The Audya Software Project - 06/05/19 05:15 AM

Hi Dan,
that's exactly what I asked myself.
I can play everything, but not the good audio drums.
That's what was missing.
Where do I have to copy the drums in Varranger2?
In a specific folder?
How can I choose the drums then?
Do I have to choose the style with the registered drums?

Re: The Audya Software Project - 06/05/19 05:27 AM

Hello Dan,

so far you can not load Audya Styles into Varranger2.

Few nights will be lost on this

Re: The Audya Software Project - 06/17/19 11:08 PM

Dan.

You think you’ll be able to get the audio drums ?
and all audio guitars in varranger?
And the percussion loops they have?
And the arpeggios they have as well?
Posted by: DAN.2000

Re: The Audya Software Project - 06/18/19 03:03 AM

Audio drums yes.
Audio guitars... later I did not started on this, but seems ok
What do you mean by percs loops and arpeggios?
Posted by: leezone

Re: The Audya Software Project - 06/18/19 07:48 PM

on my Audya 5, when i edit a style,
on one of the 8 or 10 channels i think it is
it lets you add percussion audio loops instead of the midi stuff
and on another channel it lets you choose arpegiators instead of the midi

maybe AJ or someone else can explain better ??

Re: The Audya Software Project - 06/19/19 01:55 AM

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/16/19 02:47 AM

great! news dan of your audya os?
Posted by: DAN.2000

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/16/19 11:02 AM

It is not an Audya OS, but the vArranger PC software that will play Audya styles too
It start to play good.... But still things to discover to improve the sound.....

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/17/19 02:49 AM

When you pulk this off, also have a look at the sd9’s launchpad mode

Maybe its time to switch to a full software based setup soon

Its good to see you take another huge step for v-arranger
Posted by: DAN.2000

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/17/19 05:13 AM

Yes... for now no PADS in vArranger
Probably in the future some audio / midi pads...

Launchpad is so much more then multipads
Its an entirely different feature..

But multipads, is also one of my favorite arranger features..

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/18/19 05:11 AM

What do you like in Launchpads?
It seems to be a way to mix multiple phrases from styles/midifiles/wav like in ableton projects

Thats precisely what i like most..
The idea of combining ableton, with tracks that follow a live played chord progression.

But its also the way they work in detail..

For example, you can have 3 mutual excluive guitar parts in one scene
When you you choose guitar track2 it replaces guitar track1.. and so on..
(This is also one of the ways i prefer to use the multipads on my Genos)

You can mix both audio and midi..
But you can also run a style inside a scene, giving you still controll with variations and other features for the tracks connected to a style..

There is a incredible lot of variety and flexibility hidden in the launchpad feature..

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/18/19 02:15 PM

And the audio pad can sync it's BPM with the actual style BPM?
Posted by: IMMusic_Curt

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/19/19 03:59 AM

Yes, you can do that. We just recorded a bass pattern using a vst and saved as a wav. Exported that and loaded in pad1. Next, went to audiodrums and loaded one of the on-board brush patterns. Both pads follow tempo changes and stay in sync.

You might want to read the ketron sd90 manual, to get a full grasp of the features offered by this tool...

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/22/19 07:13 AM

I am actually trying to understand how the Live Guitars works smile
It seems that they have only recorded MAJ MIN and 7TH chords, and also have a MIDI equivalent in case of other chords like sus 4

What is interesting, is that if you press CM7, it play the C live guitar track, but seems to add a B note somewhere

This is really well done, not sure how they do it
Posted by: leezone

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/28/19 10:13 PM

Dan.

I believe you are right
Audio guitars are only in Maj. Min and 7th
I think all complex chords come from midi notes played on top of audio
AJ would definitely know for sure

I wish we could add our own audio guitars to Audya
Because I would love to add “cavaquinho”, Brasilian ukulele patterns

Maybe AudyArranger will allow this? :-)
Posted by: DAN.2000

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/29/19 04:16 AM

Yes, I have done some progress on Live guitars. They almost works now !
Creating audio guitar need to record the same audio pattern in all tonalities and at last in MAJ and MIN, so at last 24 audio phrases for each pattern
plus a midi pattern that sounds exactly like the audio pattern, to switch for other chords
Then split the wav patterns to little slices etc...
Long task no?
Posted by: leezone

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/29/19 09:38 AM

yes, long task,
but would be so cool,
if i can get those wav loops, (new audio guitars)
can you add to Varranger?

Yes

Interesting

Will you make your verstom compatibel with audya and sd series?
Posted by: DAN.2000

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/30/19 07:08 AM

I did not started to work on >SD7, SD9 etc... series
Their new style format is a midifile format, a bit like Yamaha

I am actually working on the Audya style format. vArranger can play Audya styles with any midi synth, but the audiodrums and the live guitar will probably be played only by the internal Software synthesizer, as they are kind of audio tracks

You are right where it comes to sd7/sd40..

But the sd9/80/90 also supports audio guitars and more... its not just midi with audio drums..

Re: The Audya Software Project - 07/30/19 12:09 PM

Good... But for now I don't think to work on the new SD series as they are the main instruments they actually sells and have just released, and I wish Ketron a great success
Maybe in 10 years? smile
