Problem Updating SD4 Moule

I sold my SD4 to a friend that is trying to update it for the first time. He knows about sequential updates, and downloaded instructions and files, but it won't update. Is there anything peculiar to the SD4 that would cause a problem?

What is the actual version in his SD4?
What is the version of the Update?
Does he want to use vArranger with SD4?

He has the original version and he has the next two, but only tried the 1st update to go in order. I told him I would try and find the answer, but that the module would work fine with VA2 without it, and he could always update later.

A few years back I did a recommended upgrade to my Ketron SD2 and it absolutely killed the unit. AJ had to replace it.
