My Audya 76 is very forgiving and uses most pedals: Ketron, Yamaha, korg

There is a sustain option onboard for the FS6 ketron foot switch, is this same as attaching a sustain pedal through the "Sustain input" ?

Hi the only thing to do is assign the sustain to one of the pedals and save it and see if it works.
Let me know how you get on

Re: Audya 4 Sustain Pedal - 06/26/18 02:18 PM

Just tried it and not working, but my bigger issue is none of my 2 non latched footswitch's will hold the chord when i press them. In other words my sustain isnt working. Anyone have any clue why?.

Not going to help you all that much but as a reference point, I just tried setting a footswitch on our SD40 to sustain using the HS-9, and it worked. We have an Audya5 coming in on Friday. We will give it a try there to verify it works the same.

Re: Audya 4 Sustain Pedal - 06/27/18 09:25 AM

Its not working because you need a unlatching switch

Re: Audya 4 Sustain Pedal - 06/27/18 09:27 AM

Im using a Bespeco VM20 (It has the polarity switch on the pedal, and also last night i tried the Ketron FS6)

Re: Audya 4 Sustain Pedal - 06/27/18 12:18 PM

Ouch - A bold move. Any chance you can verify your pedal is working as expected on some other device first? So we only have an SD40 at this point but we will have an Audya5 in a few days. Can't say until then how close the steps are between the two.

We published this video showing the backup options/steps on an SD40. Take a look - Maybe it will help? If you can wait a day or two we will give it a try on the new Audya5 and report back...

Oh i will wait and also test my pedal on another device. Perhaps even a faulty cable!

Re: Audya 4 Sustain Pedal - 06/27/18 10:17 PM

On the KETRON products, there is a unique PIANIST feature (AUTO/SUSTAIN) where once you connect a SUSTAIN pedal to the SUSTAIN jack at the back of the Arranger unit, play a chord and press the pedal, any other subsequent notes/chords played are ignored (allowing you to 'solo' freely across the entire keyboard with no impact to the arranger/style). Once you release the pedal, the arranger now 'reads' chords played anywhere on the keyboard. This feature allows you to play like a PIANIST who generally sustains when playing notes aligned to the current chord played, and then releases the sustain pedal when about to play the next chord/notes

Hope this clarifies this.

Thanks,

PS:- On the 'newer' units like SD40, SD9 ... etc, sustain pedals polarity switch can be set, allowing you to use various types of sustain pedals from other manufacturers other than KETRON!

Re: Audya 4 Sustain Pedal - 06/29/18 11:49 AM

Just unboxed an Audya5 and hooked up a pedal we have laying around. Works as expected. In our case, we had to use the switch on the bottom as it was backward of what you would expect. Soon as we switched the polarity on it working fine.

I ordered a roland pedal for comparison purposes. What brand of pedal did you use?. I shall report Tuesday once it arrives

Re: Audya 4 Sustain Pedal - 07/02/18 06:49 AM

Quick update, i purchased a Roland sustain pedal but again its not working. I wonder would i have done something tinkering with midi settings?
Latest, the pedal does in fact work, in so far as it will work the Rotor, but not the sustain. Should i reset ?

Re: Audya 4 Sustain Pedal - 07/02/18 03:44 PM

Any chance you have some of the filters turned on in the MIDI RX section? Just checked and there is one in there for Sust / Soft / Sost.
