Your advice

Hi folks, i currently own the Audya 4 module, which i use for midi guitar performances (Solo), and with a midi controller keyboard for other performances.Im looking at the nice neat size of the SD40 and i wonder would this unit benefit me. It is smaller which is a plus for some bar venues i play. Id love your advice guys.

I own an SD40 and like it very much. I also own an Audya 76 and enjoy the updated OS. I replaced my SD2 and SD4 for this one, as I wanted a Swiss Army knife capability for master keyboard and/ or Karaoke performances. The sound quality is really good, but not better than the Audya. It has deep editing of voice and style, and the large color screen is a plus. You are right about the size and light weight, making it a snap to take to a gig. As far as midi capability is concerned, you choose the mode and it is solid. The only little thing wrong with mine is you have to use the number method on mine to recall reg's, as the name search isn't working. I am sure it will be corrected with an update, although punching in a number is immediate. I am not a technical player, so can't tell you much about the deep editing, but I think the SD40 is great for my purposes.

That's great info Bernie.I'm not looking for it to sound any better the the Audya 4, like you i just play and go, i don't dive into the technical parts too much.Im just looking at the more compact size and that it will do all my Audya does for live performance. The big screen is a plus also.

Would you given the chance, replace your Audya 4 for the SD40 Bernie?

If you use real time arranger controls in playing like sliders, knobs or switches, you'll missed them on the SD40 as Ketron minimized them to reduce the size and made it compact. I went back to MidJay Pro due to this reason. I found the MidJay Pro is better in arranger playing though it was primarily designed for multimedia player. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting

If size/weight is a problem, then obviously the SD40 is small and light. But when you need the best capability, then the Audya 4 wins.
