AUDYA5 and SSD

AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/08/13 12:53 PM

Hi,

I was curious if this would work, so I tried it.

IT WORKS !

My Audya5 is now running without moveable parts ( "normal harddisk" )... just a silent SSD.

Via an adaptor ( SSD to IDE-HD ) I connected a 120 GB SSD to my Audya 5. After formatting only 80GBs can be used but thatīs enough for me.

Due to the fact that I did a backup from my PenDrive2011 PRIOR USING IT I was able to reinstall it on the new SSD, as well as the 2012PenDrive and the UK-Styles.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/08/13 01:11 PM

Snoopy.

You are 1 brave man. But wow nice !!!
But AJ mentioned once (I think) that it's not recommended because of constant read-write as Audya plays. AJ?

Also. What if something goes awry at a gig?

Keep us posted Snoopy. If all goes well, it means an important option.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/08/13 05:04 PM

Good !

Audya constantly READS the audio drum tracks from the HD but doesn't WRITE constantly to the HD. (I hope)
Fortunately, this is writing over and over at the same place who kill the SSD, not reading.

Snoopy, do you feel any differences? smoother playing? less audya delays and bugs?

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/08/13 11:03 PM

Hello Snoopy,

I asked this before on this Forum, but AJ told me that this was not possible. I am glad You tried it, and is working.

Are there any benefits in INS and MSP loading-times ? And Booting-time ?

Wath Adapter, and witch SSD-disk did You exactly used ? I want to install it also.

Regards, and congrats,
Carlo

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/09/13 12:14 AM

The question here isn't if it will work or not. We didn't recommend this due to the constant accessing of HD/SSD performed by the AUDYA which will shorten the lifespan of the SSD (as compared to the HD). Snoopy will hopefully keep us updated ... and do not discard your HD ...

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/09/13 12:35 AM

Modern SSD is manufactured with 25 nm NAND (previously 3x nm MLC NAND) This means Snoopy, using his formatted 80GB could read and overwrite 10GB per day for 18.7 years before he will experience problems.

So get playing Snoopy!
Posted by: Tonewheeldude

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/09/13 01:11 AM

I just read that 34nm NAND is now used regularly too which would mean Snoopy could write cycle 10gb a day for 31 years ...or play almost twice as fast:) and just coming in is 50nm too

I don't know what his particular drive uses, but if anyone is considering the same move, make sure you are using a drive built using at least 25nm NAND unless its going to get very light use.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/09/13 01:19 AM

Hi all,

I like this idea a LOT and I would definitely like to do the same. No ordinary hard drive was made to endure the shocks associated with live arranger playing & sooner or later it's going to bite you.

AJ, is it at all possible to copy the stuff over from your hard drive - you have a lot of funny copy protection stuff on it & I do not want to tamper with it until I know better.

If you would not like to answer over here, won't you please do so by email my friend?

Keep well all my friends,

Henni

PS: I now see where the weight saving comes from on the Audya 5, mine has a massive, heavy thing on the left hand side which I first thought was some old fashioned transformer, but later saw it was the internal parts of my two wheels (i.e. joystick)

That thing must weigh quite a bit by the looks of it...

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/09/13 04:50 AM

I just wanted to add - my comments above are not meant as a recommendation for everyone to rush out and buy an SSD drive and adapter for their Audya's - there are other possible compatibility issues to consider - even some standard IDE drives cause problems. It will be interesting to know how Snoopy gets on though.

Snoopy, when you turn the Audya on, is the Disk Light On all the time or does it behave normally?
Posted by: Snoopy

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/11/13 08:09 AM

Ooops,

so many responses...

I try to answer them ( not in sequence ) wink :

The disk-light starts flashing when the "blue bar on the bottom" reaches approximately the middle of the bootscreen. After 40 sec itīs off like normal. Playing styles itīs very seldom flashing, so in general I would say : Itīs like "normal behaviour"

The times :
3 sec : Boot-Screen on
25 sec: MainPage on
35 sec: "click"
45 sec: ready to use

My SSD is a "SanDisk SDSDX-120G", 120 GB capacity, usable in Audya 80 GB.

The adaptor is a "Adapter Serial S-ATA SATA-HD to 2,5-inches-IDE 44-pin" ( I hope I translated it correct, I bought it in summer 2012 from amazon Germany, 12 € ).

Iīm "only" a home-user, so no fears about a crash during a gig. But of course Iīve got the "original HD", changing needs max 10 Minutes wink.
A german forum buddy has it working in his Audya76 since 3rd of october 2012, but with another SSD ( Mushkin 120GB ).

I didnīt feel any differences ( yes, I do : Itīs silent in my room laugh ) until now.

Due to the f****** copy-"protection" it is NOT POSSIBLE to copy the "Ketron-Pendrive2011" and "UK-Styles" AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ONCE to the "original harddisk".
2011 stick shows : "wrong serial number", in fact thatīs not the complete truth... The serialnumber of my Audya has definetely not changed, but the one of my harddisk.

In the meantime I know, how the "copy prevention" on the sticks is working... wink

I also have an idea how it COULD work in the Audya, but due to the fact that I donīt need it ( because anything works fine, PenDrive 2011, 2012 and UK-Styles ) I wonīt waste time to find it out wink.

BTW: Last year I copied the "2011 styles" from the "factory style" to my "user style" folder.
With the new SSD those copies were as well "protected", even though I installed the Pen2011 again and those files in the "factory" folder work fine...

If anyone has more questions he / she may ask them, but NOT to send a copy / image of my USB-stick !!! ( Itīs anyway a 4 GIGAbyte file laugh )

thank's snoopy for info I want to do the same.. maybe ssd 80 cost less if found. but before I must solve problem of pendrive. there are too much styles I use it and I don't want to buy another
I can understand copy protection is correct. but must be refear to my keyboard. I pay for it and then can istall in my keyboard every time. what to do if original disk crash ? I don't remember where read they told you can install many time the pendrive in your audya... yes but forget to tell only the same hard disk. bad bad ketron.

I'm thinking ssd too and a long cable too for put external the disk

I made an image of my pens before installing them for this very reason. I will not share or make available to others, but it helped me after installing my new AJAMSONIC hard drive & so it will again when I upgrade to solid state.

If anyone is creating a clone of their hard drive as back up - I would say to use Clonezilla (or similar)

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/11/13 05:14 PM

my question is:

if you install 120gb SSD
why do you only get 80GB?

is it the OS that formats it to 80gb?

i'd love to install a 256gb or 512gb SD and have all that capacity available
Posted by: pastroccio

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/11/13 11:48 PM

probably audya recognize only 80 gb

tonewhell: I try to clone with 3 different software that need to boot from cd... but nothins.. alwasy protected styles
I will call ketron italy about this is not correct. the keyboard is my not change, only backup hard disk
I'm thinking clonzilla do the same

of course you know the protection better then me. is logical that pendrive when installed has wrote a file that is correct with serial number of hard disk, and then if clone is not same. double protection on pendrive and harddisk. it was better if pendrive when installed wrote a file connected to the serial of audya and not serial of disk!

but before buy another pendrive I will try something more (I have no more idea now ahahh)

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/12/13 07:04 AM

Hi,

Iīm quite sure that Audya has no "built in" serial-number. Because then Ketron had to put in any keyboard an individual chip ( EPROM or similar )!!! In my opinion itīs just the label thats on the case.

CloneZilla is a good option for the sticks, but unfortunately not for the Audya-harddisks wink

@leezone : Formatting the harddisk in a pc doesnīt work ( beause Audya seems to use a "not normal FAT32" file-system ), and if formatting in the Audya you only get those 80 GB.

Maybe that editing the hd parameters ( MBR, Clustersize ... ) with an hex-editor after formatting it in the Audya could help to get more than 80 GB.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/18/13 10:49 AM

Hello,

Altough i bought the same SSD, and SATA to 44-pins IDE Convertor,
my Audya refuse to recognice my SSD.
I can't format my SSD in first place...

@Snoopy
You have also used a SATA to 44-pins IDE Convertor. Buth the Audya use a 50-pins-Connector from HD to Printboard.
How to connect ???

Thanks in Advance for any advice...

Regards,

Carlo
Posted by: Snoopy

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/21/13 08:36 AM

Hi Carlo,

on my convertor there is a small jumper, this one has to be removed, otherwise the Audya wonīt recognize the SSD !

I you have a look to the 2nd of my pictures maybe you can see that the 6 pins LEFT SIDE ( seen from above ) of the cable are not connected to the convertor.

In other words : "Nr 1" of the cable to "Nr 1" of the convertor.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/22/13 11:20 PM

Thanks for Your Advice, Snoopy.

I have give it another try, but with no luck.

When i attach the SSD, and turn Audya on, then a message appears on the screen : "Harddisk not formatted. Press F1 to Format"

When i press F1, my Audya return to the Main-Screen, (without formatting the SSD).

At least, i believe that Audya has now find the SSD-drive, but refuse to format it.

I have that same problem with USB-sticks. Also impossible to Format, or Copy and Delete files to a Stick...
Also some Errors in the Checksumm-test...

Therefore, i think something else is wrong with my Audya (See my other post here on the forum)

I installed the regulare Harddrive in the Audya again, and i am in contact with AJ for further advice.

Best Regards,

Carlo.

I'm trying to make the same modification to my Audya. What is the brand and model number of the IDE to SATA adapter you used for your modification? I get most of my computer parts from NewEgg and I'm trying to find the correct adapter for this modification.

You also mention a jumper setting to adjust so that the Audya recognizes the Sandisk SDD. Could you elaborate on this procedure.

Thank you.

Hi Lee,

yep, itīs still working fine wink

LED is on only during activity, exactly the same than with the original harddisk.

If no style / midi / mp3 and so on is running itīs "off" all the time.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/29/13 11:03 PM

Hi Snoopy,

I have ordered a new drive from AJ. Can you outline to me exactly how you clone a disk, so in the event of a failure i have a backup! (Lets hope i never have to do this)

In general a question? Why is the procedure of restore in Audya so ridiculous?. Other manufacturers supply restore recovery disks. Please Ketron can you do the same. The reason i ask this, and don't get me wrong, i am happy to upgrade to AJ's disk, is that we should have an easier way of recovery for a great keyboard. The update pen drives? Once i have bought them, (didn't realise could only use them once!) a perfect storm! So you have hard drive failure, needs replacement, can't get my paid for updates on my Audya.

Please Ketron make this a priority, i know you are worried re copy protection, but there must be a better way. Korg use a licensing number fir add ons.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/30/13 12:16 AM

Hi Robbo,

Once you install AJAMSONIC on your Audya, Ketron refuses any further support of your machine with immediate effect. I know this is such a pity, but is is never the less true.

In this instance, you'll have to address your question to AJ and not to Ketron.

I purchased & received restoration DVDs from TWD before my AJAMSONIC upgrade and they worked perfectly. They are worthless to me now...

I also intend to clone my HD soon to have a backup in place just in case... Maybe then will be a good time for me to go the same route as Snoopy.

Keep well my friend,

Henni

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/30/13 12:24 AM

robbo: for bakcup hard disk best solution is format new hard disk from audya , then copy all files from older disk, remember to copy hidden folders too. after copy you must reinstall pen2011 else style don't work. if you don't have a copy never used of your pen you cannot do it because serial number problem. I Solve it with ketron italy send them my pen and restored for free and now work.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/30/13 12:27 AM

Robbo,

You will not be able to "COPY" your AJAMSONC HDD due to the installed copy protection on it. You will HAVE to clone it.

In this case even your pen drive updates will work on your new HDD.

When we simply copy all the files from the Audya's Harddisk to another Harddisk, is the other Hardisk then usefull in the Audya ?
Or isn't it that simple ?

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/30/13 02:39 AM

Hi Carlo,

Apart from the AJAMSONIC upgrade or any of the pen upgrades, including Roberts latest - yes, it will work!

However, the upgrades mentioned above are seriously copy protected and if you do not clone your HDD, those upgrades will not work on your new HDD.

I do not claim to be the expert on this, but the above I know for a fact.

All the best,

Hi Robbo,

I found free software on the net for cloning my usb sticks. That was fast & easy.

However, I'm not so sure what's available for a HDD. Acronis comes to mind, but I don't think it's free. TWD mentioned a program, I must look for the name.

However, I'm not well educated on cloning a hard drive & you should rather wait for a more appropriate answer from someone who knows.

Maybe use Google to search for "cloning a HDD" or something like that.

Sorry I could not help mate, all the best,

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/30/13 06:13 AM

Curious:

The 2 main reasons for an SSD over a HDD are noise and speed, however a modern quality HDD produces little noise, (Particularly if it’s encased) so you will be hard pushed to hear it anyway. (Especially when you play a note)

As to speed, the interface used in the Audya is old and slow so there will be NO speed advantage by using an SSD.

So why does everybody suddenly want to splash out extra cash for a minimal to zero improvement?

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/30/13 06:17 AM

Clonezilla is Linux text based and I use it to Ghost my laptop drive, so in the event of failure I have a swappable backup.

Its also good for upgrading hard drives. When I brought my last laptop it was only 60gb but had the Original Thinkpad restore partition and my own software, so I used clonezilla to clone the hard disk to a brand new 500gb drive, and then used GPARTED to increase the partition size. Both invaluable pieces of software.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 01/30/13 06:32 AM

I have been using Mini Tool Partition Wizard for years (The Home version is free) as it covers all the avenues without having to boot separate programs. (You can also create a boot disc and do everything before the OS starts)

Hi Henni,

sorry, but youīre wrong frown

Even if you do a clone ( "sectory by sector copy" ) of your Audya harddisk :

If you restore it to another ! harddisk the copy protected files ( styles ) wonīt work !!! To the same harddisk they of course do.

It looks like during installation of the mentioned pendrives the hdīs serialnumber is stored "somewehere" in the Audya.

*****

FileZilla is e very good freeware-tool, but If a user has no experience of file-systems, MBR, partitions and so on he SHOULD NOT USE it.
If you hit "the wrong button at the wrong time" ALL YOUR DATA ( of the PCs harddisk !!!) might be lost !!!
Users without this experience should buy AcronisTrueImage ( in Germany 49,-- € ) or a similar program.

Hi Snoopy,

I asked AJ direct with regards to the AJAMSONIC upgrade and that was his personal answer to me. Off course I don't expect my HDD to work in someone else's Audya (that was NEVER my intention), but I'm rather sure it'll work in mine. I cannot speak for the pendrives though, but I have proper original clones for mine.

No one is going to fool me by selling software to me that I cannot re-install when something goes wrong. That would be arrogant to the extreme!

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 02/01/13 03:22 AM

Hi Henni,

maybe that with AJs Upgrade something is different...

I did a clone backup of my original hd, copied it to another hd ( a different type ! ) and put this into the Audya : Anything EXCEPT the copy-protected styles was working fine.

Maybe that it would work with an identical hd type...

The ketron-usb-sticks can only be used ONCE ! On the SAME HD they can be used more than once.

I tried to reinstall the sticks as well on another hd and on my ssd, I always got the message "wrong serial number". Due to the fact that itīs still the same Audya wink the serialnumber of the hd seems to be the important factor.

I fully agree with copy protection, but the way Ketron does it is not the right one !
Posted by: pastroccio

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 02/01/13 09:47 AM

the original hard disk ketron is not copy protected eccept pendrive. I format new disk from audya and then copy only system folder and work good. after then must reinstall pen2011 (that ketron reset my for free) and work fine
the same I think with ssd

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 02/03/13 08:22 PM

Hi guys,

Thank you for your answer. Luckily I made images of my two pen drives "just in case". I am now extremely happy for doing so.

AJ is investigating the SSHD issue and before he comes back with an answer, I'll keep mine as is. It's working perfectly and I decided against tampering with something that works.

Plus, all those new styles are keeping me very, very busy. There are some real gems amongst those and all that is required on them is to correct the volume settings for the different parts. I'm really blown away by some of those and it breathed new life into my Audya. I'm so glad I did those conversions...

Keep well all my friends,

Your Audya-SSD still rocking?
I was thinking of getting one but my Audya 5 is brand new and I was a bit hesitant
As I'd have to do all from scratch, format, copy Ketron files, updates 2011,2012, UK by request etc
Posted by: Ketron_AJ

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 02/18/13 10:23 AM

Just a correction about AjamSonic support above. To date, only Ketron UK have officially mentioned they do not support an Ajamsonic upgraded product. It is however being installed and supported by other distributors and subsequent dealers of their network globally.

As for the HD copy/clone, it was designed such that those who purchase the extra styles, sounds, or AjamSonic upgrade can feel comfortable knowing others won't simple "copy/download" these from somewhere and this also helps keep the cost down. Ofcourse you can clone a HD and use in the same Audya product.

Can you clone you HD after all updates 2011,2012, UK, etc

I think no..

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 02/18/13 12:59 PM

Hi Leezone,

Personally I would wait until your guarantee is out before doing any surgery on your new Audya - there will be no significant improvements and you will probably find your distributor will not be too happy if you try and claim against a warranty. Although i understand the idea of playing with things and getting them to work is appealing smile

Please, would any of you answer my following questions:

1. How do I format for 120 GB as per AJ's newest mod.
2. How do I copy my Ajamsonic stuff over with the copy protection?
3. I'll re-install my pendrive updates.

Please Snoopy, AJ, TWD & all: I seriously intend doing this. I work for hours every day with the Audya on my lap - not the most stable platform for any hard drive. Won't you all please be so kind as to help me do it right the first time.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 06/18/13 11:35 AM

Forgive me for intruding, but I recently installed a second solid state drive in my Korg Kronos 61; this new drive is USB 3 compliant (meaning that it can transfer up to 5 Gb of data per sec), but the Kronos controller is only USB-2 compliant (maximum transfer speed = 480 Mb per sec), and so the SS drive is kind of crippled, because the maximum transfer speed attainable is determined by the controller, that acts as a bottleneck. As far as I know, the Audya has an even older controller (USB-1, that transfers data at just 12 Mbit/sec)) and the advantage of having a high speed solid state disk is completely lost. So my question is: why risk to void a warranty and lose all your old (protected) data if you get absolutely no advantage in return?
Just asking... confused
Posted by: leezone

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 06/18/13 12:46 PM

Yes, unfortunately Audya is USB 1

I may wait till my 1 year warranty is up to do this HD swap

But the advantage is no moving parts, especially useful for the Audya4, the module, as you can have it at ANY angle with SSD and be ok

The other advantage is you'd have a backup of your Audya so in case your SSD stops working, it's just a matter of swapping out for your original HD, and you're quickly back up and running

AJ, any others positives with the SSD ??

Transportation (less/no damage as a result of travelling on bad roads ... etc), or transporting in and out of you car/truck with no damage as a result of shock (which won't be the case with a HD).

Great for the gigging musician!

Henni's regular HD just failed, so maybe advantage of SSD is RELIABILTY ?

only time will tell....

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 06/20/13 03:40 AM

Maybe SSD are crashing too smile

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 06/20/13 06:08 AM

reality is ANYTHING can happen at ANY time
so you must be prepared
regular HD can fail, SSD can fail, processor can fail, power supply can fail,

so everyone go out and buy vArranger for backup smile

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 06/21/13 12:19 PM

Ok, so I emailed sandisk asking if this SSD is 24nm NAND, 34nm NAND, etc.

this is their response:

"As per you query SanDisk Extreme uses 24 nm Toggle Mode flash. Today we are the first SSD manufacturer who has combined the good old SandForce SF-2281 controller with new 24 nm Toggle Mode flash. We have recently released the SanDisk Extreme II SSD which uses 19 nm Toggle Mode Flash."

hmm, the new Extreme II is 19nm NAND,?
i would think this would last even less than the Extreme @ 24nm

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/01/13 12:03 PM

question,

anyone use an actual cable that is IDE on one side and SATA on the other?

or does it have to be this adapter, this small circuit board?

any links for this?

i just ordered my SanDisk Extreme SDSSDX-120G-G25 smile

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/01/13 12:12 PM

Hi Lee,

like Carlo wrote, this adaptor is exactly what you need.

As far as I know a "cable-only-solution" does not exist.

And my Audys-SSD still works fine ( and silent laugh )

Thanks Snoopy

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 04:01 AM

Hi all,

Just a warning to all going for the SSD option - maybe this problem is unique to my installation only:

When booting, the Audya does not see the SSD 1st time everytime. Most of the time, I have to switch off & on 3 to 5 times before the Audya accepts the SSD & then only starts to boot.

Also, although the SSD is 120GB, the Audya will ony see & utilize 80GB.

The above pose no real problem for me & I've learned to live with it. I am still extremely happy with mine.

All the best my friends,

Henni

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 08:50 AM

Snoopy, AJ

you guys ever experience this intermittent SSD behavior?

i'm just about to ahead with this SSD swap, maybe tonight

maybe it's an AJAMSONIC thingy, a bug somewhere?
Snoopy you have ajamsonic?
Posted by: leezone

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 08:52 AM

Henni,

maybe your SSD connections are loose?

i know you have to put that adapter in between
Posted by: Ketron_AJ

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 12:57 PM

The connector is the main issue here for the most part as nothing physically holds it in place secured to the SSD apart from friction between both connectors. We use a glue gun here to secure the connection between the adaptor and the SSD so that it stays in place even during extreme motion.

Try doing this and get back to me.

Thanks,

AJ

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 01:36 PM

AJ can you explain a bit more the "glue" process?
you melt glue on it? how? what kind of gun/product?
Posted by: Ketron_AJ

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 03:00 PM

Lee,

You use a Glue gun to melt a "plastic looking and feeling" glue stick sold with it (at Radio Shack e.g) which melts like a candle onto both surfaces. As it solidifies (in under a minute), it bonds with both and 'glues/holds' them together.

She explains here how to use one of these:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGeujbfgEI8

Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 03:55 PM

Thanks

So you connect adapter in place. Then where it connects
Apply a line of glue.
So part is on SSD and part is on adapter

Or you just put a few drops. ?

I assume no glue on the actual pins themselves ?
Posted by: Ketron_AJ

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 04:42 PM

Yes - you don't apply the glue where it connects, but rather over the connection ... or you can put 2 large drops (one on either end/side). When it solidifies, it will hold both in place.

Non on the pins, please!!! You shouldn't even be able to see the pins once they are locked in firm. Unlike standard glue (which you apply to both surfaces which you want held together), this glue acts like you would use tape ... over the surfaces to hold both pieces together - and it can easily come off with some extra pressure. It is actually already used inside AUDYA to hold some cables and fixtures together.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 05:56 PM

Leezone,
I've just installed mine recently on the A5, all I did was added one or two washer on the side of the plate where the two screws are to hold the plate firmly in place.. As for the attachment area between cable and SSD unit itself, I don't think it will detach itself less some really serious shakin goin on..
I didn't experience any of Henni's problems luckily enough, but do remember to test the unit before closing it.
Good luck..

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/12/13 07:25 PM

I think I'll do 3 drops of the heat gun
One on each end and one in the middle of adapter/SSD
I think that should do it

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/13/13 12:19 PM

hey Henni

what's status of your Audya/SSD?

did you open it back up to check the connection?

maybe time to get out your glue gun?

please let us know

best....
Posted by: leezone

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/13/13 12:22 PM

and Snoopy, did you use a glue gun?

if not, you think you'll open your audya and add some glue drops to adapter?
Posted by: Henni

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/13/13 09:41 PM

Hi Leezone,

No, even whilst testing it before closing up, I experienced same, & no matter how much I wiggled it, the symptoms would remain. I decided just to live with it. Last night took 4 starts to boot. Maybe I'll open up later & attempt to glue in place,.

All the best mate,

Henni

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/13/13 10:20 PM

You sure you skip the 4 or 6 pins on LEFT side?
Posted by: Henni

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/14/13 12:31 AM

Yup,

I did else it would not work at all. It's a real pity they do not make a smaller, lighter adapter for it.

You know what, I'm considering more & more mounting it on the OUTSIDE of the Audya. That way file transfers will be faster & at least it can be accessed when giving problems. I must start to look out for a longer ribbon cable.

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/14/13 07:32 AM

hmm,

on the outside?
maybe on left in front of joystick?
but a more permanent enclosure would be cool, maybe something to match the AUDYA perfect, silver metal like

Hi Lee,

I didnīt use glue ( but I donīt move my Audya, itīs always on the same place in my "working-room" ;))

And I had NEVER problems like Henni, the Audya always starts at first run.

I donīt have AJamSonic so far, this year I had to replace a lot of things in my house, so no more money for keyboard available smirk

Re: AUDYA5 and SSD - 08/17/13 09:58 AM

Good Sr, Henni, when I received my ajamsonic disk had the problem that my ssd drive was not recognized by the audya, the problem is in the adapter, I bought one here in Spain (10 €) and problem solved, perhaps you should do this test to see if it works.
