a Little about us - 08/24/12 03:45 AM

Hi everyone,

a Little about us (me & Monica) and our setup.

Please post some pics about yourselves and/or your setup. Oh yes, if you resize the pics to 800 x 600 first, it will make browsing so much easier.

Kind regards,
Henni

Re: a Little about us - 08/24/12 10:42 AM

Hi,

We did not perform as yet with the Audya. I'm very busy preparing our new arranger for that & then I'll post some pics.

Remember, We've had the Audya now for three weeks only... We will not perform again until we're ready with the Audya. I estimate another three to four weeks or so. We do not perform for reward - we do open air outreaches only. As such, we have no tight schedule to adhere to like some of you.

Keep well all,
Henni

What an amazing rig. I don't think I have ever seen anything quite like it.

Great car choice too - mine is the same colour but the tourer. I have owned Rover's for years.

We have the same keyboard, same car and same mixer and my wife is blonde too.

Wow Darren, no wonder we get along so well then. Still watching my mailbox like a hawk for all the goodies from you...

Well, this is what we do after hours. It fulfills us to the extreme - I'm sure my constant enthusiasm testify to this. We do not suffer from boredome or self centred lives.

We can also not wait to get started again with the Audya (been out of action for a few weeks now) - we're sure to get much more attention this time round tx to Ketron!!! And this time round we'll sound even more like Hillsong...

We are dreaming, meditating & praying for our promised truck with the huge hydraulically operate mobile stage. And it will most probably be equipped with a El Acoustique sound system...And we might end up taking it all the way out to central Africa, cause that's our vision!

Keep well my friend,

Henni

Now this is what I've started this thread for - so that others can start to open up & show themselves a little more. If you do, please resize pics to 800 x 600 so that we can keep it nice & uniform. Now comeon the rest of you - share those pics with us fellow mortals!!!

Have a GREAT weekend all my friends (If my ketron stuff is in the mailbox today I will too...)

Wonderful job that you are doing there.
Its the type of arranger that matter? No.
Is what is in your heart.

Hi Machetero,

I aggree fully. However, please note that this picture was not taken by us or caused by any of our doings.

However, it is the most inspirational picture I've EVER come accross and that's why I say we STRIVE for it & how we WISH...

Glad that you were also touched by it though.

Re: a Little about us - 09/09/12 11:25 PM

Hi all,

Posted this somewhere else, but it is more appropiate over here:

We have literally thousands of similar pics by now. I took the liberty of showing a few of those over here..(It's always nice to see how & what others are using their arrangers for & I wish more would participate)

However, we do not think that we are special in any way or form. Neither are we professionals like many others over here. We just use our love for making music to also care for the down & outs and try to do something practical about it. It is not always easy, and we are not always thanked for doing so

But it does give us a satisfaction & fulfillment that is hard to describe... It's like getting high on some sort of drug and the effect takes a long time to wear off. And having an arranger is perfect for what we do, as most of the time it's only me & Monica.

Like I said over at another forum where someone stated that most of the time he is only the quiet guy in the corner, being totally ignored, providing the music only.

That's most certainly not true for us. Yes, it takes boldness, but we choose an area, open our mobile sound trailer & then blow away!!! For the next hour or so, no one cannot be aware of us or what we do. We do not scream or act uncivilized, but then also we are definitely not the silent type in the corner. Our sound is powerfull & travels far. We specifically go to some of the more popular outdoor places from time to time as this message has to get all the exposure it can.

Also, since no one pays our bills, we can pretty much do anything we please. Sometimes we'll play in an old age home, sometimes at some of the more popular flea markets, sometimes inside a shopping mall, sometimes outside a shopping mall in the parking area, sometimes in the veld where the down & outs live under the trees, sometimes in the squatters camps & sometimes even in the centre of the black townships. Our normal audience range from the rich & super civilized (although mostly cold hearted) right down to the poor & sometimes even barbarians.

We have been threatened on many an occasion, sometimes by local residents, sometimes by police activists, sometimes even by the down & outs themselves. Bags with snakes have been thrown at us. We've driven right into the midst of the occult, whilst they were operating, and did our "thing" there. On one occasion, barbed wire was erected to prevent us from reaching out to the down & outs in an specific area. Our Rover has been to places where the Landrovers of most have not yet been.

However, there are ALWAYS good results and we thrive on the lives being changed. We see some of these afterwards, being changed from a state of being complete drunkards & outcasts into being civilized, employed, well clothed and in their right minds. It does not get any better than this...

Over the years, we've accumulated many interesting tales that we can one day share with our children.

I designed & built our sound trailer specifically for this, and it works extremely well. When we one day have the finances, we'll upgrade to a truck & hydraulically operated mobile stage trailer. This we intend to take right into the heart of Africa, as this is our ultimate vision. The only thing standing between us & this being finances... That's why I work full time for a living, and we reach out in our spare time only. However, everyone has to have a dream, & this is ours!

Keep well all my friends,

Henni (and my lovely Monica)

Hi all,

The casual way in which we do recordings direct onto the Audya. The headphone amplifier/splitter (little blue unit on the left of my photo) works great!!! Note the absence of the "AJAMSONIC" stickers on our Audya which off course means we're still waiting for it in GREAT anticipation...

We plan to perform live again using the Audya only, starting at a flea market at one of our more popular dams (lake), starting next weekend. We are just about ready once again.

Keep well all my friends,

Re: a Little about us - 01/28/13 02:17 AM

Hi Nigel,

Tx. One of our visions is to secure sponsorship to erect orphanages throughout South Africa. You will not believe the percentage of 12 & 13 year old school girls giving birth in this country. You will also not believe the drug trafficing amongst the young people in the townships over here.

We are going to try our utmost best to try to help with these situations.

Quote:
South Africa’s health ministry recently released statistics showing that almost 5,000 schoolgirls in Johannesburg became pregnant in just one school year.

What happened to your Rover Henni?
Posted by: Henni

Re: a Little about us - 02/11/13 08:15 PM

Hi TWD,

The engine gave in. Two heads cracked, two sleeves cracked, one conrod bent, pistons broken, valves bent. We were driving on the open road when she just cut out, like if the ignition was disconnected. No noises of any sorts. I thought it was something minor, instead it turned out to be major indeed. And I always drove her gently, no hard driving of any sorts.

Because over here the Rover is imported, I was quoted half what I payed for her to get her fixed. I'm afraid we no longer have our mercy vehicle that went where very few Landrovers go.

When we opened up our sound trailer for the first time in four months over the weekend, my big bass bins fell apart. They got damp. Those speakers are the very heart of our sound system... I have to replace those now.

Giving to the poor is an extremely unthankfull business. If I tell you about the financial losses & frustrations we've suffered, especially during the previous two months, I make you a solemn promise that you will not believe me. It reads like some horror fairy tale. The above are just two minor incidents.

But we'll continue. Some time or other someone with the means will take note of us just as we take note of & care for others. This is a promise that we received from Him. And I think the time is getting ripe for that.

Anyway, enough sulking. Thanks for enquiring my friend.

All the best,

Henni

Re: a Little about us - 02/12/13 02:20 AM

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Henni. Sounds like your timing belt snapped from the huge ammount of damage - a part costing two figures breaks and the damage is four figures! Happens to so many cars. Did you find replacement Bass speakers?
Posted by: Henni

Re: a Little about us - 02/12/13 02:34 AM

Hi TWD,

No, not yet. I must take my boxes apart. Maybe the speakers are still okay & then all I need are new wooden boxes. I really hope this is the case as the amp, xover & mixer are still working fine. Also, luckily the two Fane speaker boxes seem to be okay.

Our sound was pathetic this weekend and I miss our bass bins.

We left our house last year to go & live right next to a 3 500 resident squatters camp to minister to those. To do so, we had to live for six months in an extremely vandalized house without any water pipes or electrical cables. We spent the whole of winter without water or electricity.

Since then, the sound trailer had to stay outside, even in the rain and now this is the result of that. Luckily we are once again living in a decent house and everything is once again well protected against the elements.

As for the Rover - yes, you are most probably right. But we've learned not to cry over spilled beans. We carry on. Sooner or later we'll have a decent vehicle again. In the meantime, the small Opel will have to do what the Rover used to do. Our sound trailer is small, but with the power generator compact & heavy & I will not attempt towing it for a great distance with the Opel. So for the time being we are focusing on the immediate area around us.

Keep well my friend,

Henni

Re: a Little about us - 02/12/13 08:14 AM

I used to have a white van the same as your car (a 1986 Vauxhall Astramax) , it was suprisingly able to move quite a bit of weight (tonewheel hammond's in the back) The van was worth about £250 at the time and more than once I had £28,000 of new Hammond and Leslie inside smile Everyone probably thougt it was full of copper pipes and old boilers!

But towing is different to having the weight inside the vehicle and its likely to be unstable. I am certain something will come up for you.

Hi all,

The new "Monster" in our lives. Almost as much fun as playing the Audya... I'm a blessed man!!!

Re: a Little about us - 03/14/13 09:26 PM

Hi again,

I wanted to buy a superbike, but when Monica saw the pics of this bike, she was totally sold on it. And was she right! This was EXACTLY what I wanted, although I did not know it at the time. Another bike simply would not have cut it at all for us at this point & time when we've decided to take a little breather from all our outreach activities.

One Sunday, on our way to a nearby dam, we came across a whole bunch of these going in the same direction. We fell in behind them & drove with them most of the way. What a different bunch of bikers altogether, as cool & casual as they come. Following ALL the road rules, keeping to the speed limit. Really, an awesome bunch of folks in no hurry at all, smelling the roses as they go. And the noise from all those John Deere type engines sounding together was really something to behold...

I have in the meantime become just the same with her, cruising merrily at 100km/k on the highway just because it's fun. And us quietly laughing at all the superbikes coming screaming past us, breaking just about every traffic rule there is.

I experience the same on my daily trip to work & back - even the small Nippi scooters "screaming" (ha ha ha) by on the white line & forcing themselves into any small opening in the traffic they can find. And all this time I just cruise happily behind the vehicle directly in front of me. Yes, she's a beast to keep upright in stop/start traffic with a pax on board, but once going she's as tame as they come. And I really enjoy her complete unrefineness. She's certainly no racer in any way or form. I DID however see someone wheelie the newer 2liter version at the dam...what a sight & sound!

Yes, she's certainly also no fuel saver with the same consumption as most cars. So we use her for fun only & not for economy...

We are really having a BLAST with her, and EVERY Saturday & Sunday we have breakfast at a different place. Soon, we intend taking her firstly for a trip to the Lowveld (500 km) & then to the South Coast (750 km) & maybe later even down to the West Coast (1800 km)... She really opens a complete new lifestyle for us & it's a lot of fun, to say the least. We are once again looking forward to our weekends in great anticipation!

Anyway, keep well all my friends,

Henni

Re: a Little about us - 03/14/13 09:30 PM

Hi again,

I did biking when I was much younger & forgot how much fun it was. Glad to be back. When I married Monica, she made me understand she would not approve of any form of motorbiking in our lives. However, on riding with me on the 150cc Nippi scooter, she came to like it and often asked me if we could not go any faster, which off course we could not. That was then the stepping stone to a bigger bike and now she is thrilled just as much as I am with it.

We are really having a stunning time with it and we are daily looking for any excuse to go anywhere. This bike really upped the fun factor in our lives by a few hundred percent!

Keep well all my friends,

Hi Bernie,

Thanks! On our last outreach, we were told by the supervisors that they are no longer satisfied with us bringing soup for the kids, they wanted Monica to prepare and bring stew instead (for 160 plus kids!). That's when I decided it's time for a break and at least for a while concentrate on ourselves.

And it is already showing. We are once again looking forward to our weekends in great anticipation. And Monica is once again glowing - all these activities put a lot of stress on us.

Yes, we'll get back to it, but not just yet...

All the best my friend,

Re: a Little about us - 04/01/13 10:52 PM

Hi TWD,

This weekend, to my utter amazement, I found out that we are allowed pulling a trailer behind the bike in South Africa.

So my good friend, soon she'll have a towbar and we'll be pulling our trailer.

We did some nice biking again this weekend and slowly but surely we are taking longer & longer trips as we get used to her. Yesterday we did 400km, not bad for starters.

We are liking our bike more and more and getting a touring bike turned out to be a very good idea for us.

Anyway, keep well my friend & tx for the bike & trailer pic,

Hi Henni - great to hear you and your wife are enjoying the bike...and about the towbar. Over in the UK you often see those big touring bikes with trailers heading for rallies or on a road trip. Bikes never appealed to me, but theses massive tourersrs are in a class all of their own.

Re: a Little about us - 04/02/13 04:21 AM

Hi TWD,

Let me present you with some fun. Yesterday, we had to stop at a very busy garage for some fuel. As I was approaching the pump at a creeping pace waiting for the vehicle in front of me, for the very 1st time, Monica started getting off without warning me first.

The moment I felt the bike leaning to one side, I put out my leg & with all my strength tried to keep us upright. But alas, to no avail, and before I knew it, me & the bike were lying on our sides. No damage done except to my ego which still hurts. Wish I had a pic of that! :-)

MAN, that beast is HEAVY!!! Monica will never get off or on again withoutr warning me beforehand...

Keep well my friend,

Note, for song 10 I used an converted Yamaha style & some extensive style modelling. The result, at least in my opinion, is better than the original Yamaha style.

Here is song 10 performed on the Yamaha PSR3000. Listen & judge for yourself whether sounding better on the Audya or not. I am a firm advocator of style modelling!

Hi all,

This is what the Audya sounds with converted pure midi styles only. We always record live & we did not rehearse these at all - but it will prove my point.

Just listened to your performances. Very well done. Very entertaining and enjoyable to listen to. I've been holding off on the Audya for over two years now, each time waiting for Tyros new release, then Pa3xPro new release, still never satisfied enough. Now, I'm reconsidering Audya with an Ajamsonic upgrade. Tough decision, because Audya now 5 years old but still sounds so good. I'm right on the fence. Thank you for your samples. They give a nice diverse example of how the keyboard can be creatively used. Thanks for your passion for the instrument, the music, and helpfulness in sharing your thoughts, opinions and advice on this forum. This has all been part of my keyboard research, so it's quite helpful. Best regards, Hal.

Define "converted pure midi styles" please.

Re: a Little about us - 09/26/13 10:53 PM

Hi my friend,

These were styles from other manufacturers, converted for the Audya. No tweaks, no style modelling, but used direct as 1st conversion. Hence they have no audio whatsoever.

Cheers mate,

Henni and Monica,

I loved your performance of Majesty and its message ><(((º>

I have just started to consider buying buying an Audya rather than a PA3x or Tyros 4. I'm looking forward to my first reading of the posts in this group.

Unfortunately my nearest dealer is several hundred miles away frown

Hi Ian,

I suggest you contact AJ and buy the full Ajamsonic version from him. Well worth the money & his support is really outstanding.

Re: a Little about us - 03/26/14 09:36 PM

Hi all,

Just an update:

Our tow vehicle broke down start November 2013. The engine blew completely.

Well, she had a MAJOR engine transplant and now runs with a Lexus V8 and auto box. I've uploaded some pics of the engine installation. If you look over here and scroll down right to the bottom, you'll find these new pics.

Thus we have been out of action for awhile, but should have more news about our new outreaches soon.

Please let me know if the link does not work.

Keep well all,

Henni

Hi Henni

Great pics. I didn't know so many are involved in your ministry. Happy you are up and running again.

God bless you two.

Re: a Little about us - 03/27/14 08:13 AM

Hi Bernie,

No, so far it's only me & Monica because we are doing this all after work in our spare time. What you see is the audience sometimes lending a helping hand.

Off course this will all change as soon as we are fulltime in His ministry.

All the best mate,

Henni

Re: a Little about us - 03/27/14 10:59 AM

Sorry, I meant the number of audience participants involved. I had pictured only a small rural outpost. Also, I can see you and Monica are kept very busy.

Best to you,
Bernie
