Audya4 owners

Hi all on the forum,
Well, at last, I have now taken the big step and I am going for the Audya4.
I am just wondering who else is using the Audya4 on this forum?

I have an Audya 5 but use an Audya 4 in the showroom. What are you going to be using the module with? Guitar, Keyboards, Accordion, Qchord?

Will be using it with a MIDI controller, Edirol PCR800.
Since you have both the Audya5 and Audya4, do the buttons feel the same?
I am just wondering since I am visually impaired and form what I understand it, it should be the same.

Great, and yes, the buttons are identical on all models. I am pretty sure Ketron are the best instruments for those with sight issues.

When it arrives use the Midi In (keyboard) port then, presuming you are splitting the controller as channel One upper and Two lower:

MENU -> F2 MIDI -> F6 CHANNEL RX ->
Upper 1
Lower 2
all others OFF then:
F9 Arranger Chords ->
Lower 1: 2
Lower 2: 2
all others OFF

and lastly press "SAVE" (under the cursor keypad)

Then go into Menu -> keyboard control -> F5 accordion -> user 1/6 (change to INACTIVE).


and then USER 5/10 'SAVE'

That should get you started although you may need to change the octaves for upper/lower. The latter instructions ensures good chord recognition.

First I am going to have a friend of mine telling me all the buttons and then I will connect my Edirol and see how it will work and then try what you suggested.
I am also going to use this as a sound module with Cakewalk Sonar.
How do you like your Audya 4 yourself?

Before the Audya I had been totally turned off by arranger keyboards and ensemble organs. I was working mostly with live rock, acid jazz/funk and acoustic bands and musicians and I could not bring myself to play with "midi" styles and cheesy backing and in the end sold my PSR8000 and brought a Hammond XE1 but didn't get on well with that either because of the midi styles. I sold that too and did not have anything at home for a few years (except for some vintage synths: a D50, M1, DX7mkIIfd S2turbo, SY77 and some modules - all of which have now been sold off too).

But the Audya completely took me by suprise and is really like playing with live musicians I find myself arranging in real time. I select instruments more carefully and only use those that would appear in any particular style. You will understand once you own it for a while.

Sometimes its great just to turn down drum and bass and start off with the live strumming guitar, and then after the intro, hit fill in, bring up the drum and bass and launch into the tune.

One thing I must say - the Audya absolutley a requires good quality amp & speakers that cover full frequency range. Basically if you play cd's through your system and they sound good so will the Audya.

Congratulations on your choice. You will find it pretty easy once you take that initial step.

thinking about it, some of the buttons (to select styles and voices) might be slightly smaller on the Audya 4, but it shouldn't cause you a problem. They are still very tactile.

i too have the A4
just curious as to why you chose the a4 over the A5 keyboard?
i use my A4 with Akai MPK61

First, they didn't have the A5 in stock here and didn't know when they were going to have it.
Secondly, I had a MIDI keyboard here, the Edirol PCR800 and when they had the A4 I decided to go for it now.
Haven't plaied the A5 so I will eventually miss a better keyfeel compared to the PCR800.
My expectations are high now. Will get it soon.
